Publisher's Summary

The fourth volume of memoirs from the author who inspired the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small.

Finally home from London after his wartime service in the RAF, James Herriot is settling back into life as a country vet. While the world has changed after the war, the blunt Yorkshire clients and menagerie of beasts with weird and wonderful ailments remain the same. But between his young son, Jimmy, trailing him around aping his every move, stubborn farmers refusing to try his 'new-fangled' treatments and a goat that has eaten 293 tomatoes, Darrowby is far from quiet. And with another baby on the way, life is about to get even more chaotic....

Since they were first published, James Herriot's memoirs have sold millions of copies and entranced generations of animal lovers. Charming, funny and touching, The Lord God Made Them All is a heartwarming story of determination, love and companionship from one of Britain's best-loved authors.

    "Annoying music."

Love the James Herriot books. Well read by Christopher Timothy. But the music is really annoying as it interrupts chapters. And is too long.

The only fault I could find was the recording itself was poor, other than that Christopher Timothy was perfect.

"Recording choppy, and what’s with the out-of-context startling music selection?!"

I usually appreciate audiobooks even with musical interruptions if the story and performance are stellar, but dear dudes at audio renaissance, what’s with the odd music chopping stories midway? Is that your equivalent of commercial breaks?! And sound quality choppy too.

"Brilliant narration, shame about the music..."

This audiobook would have gotten 5 stars all round were it not for the musical interludes, which I felt distracted from rather than added to the performance. Lovely stories and brilliant narration.

    "Ruined by random music "
What made the experience of listening to The Lord God Made Them All the most enjoyable?

This is a pleasant humorous vet story totally ruined by weird inappropriate bits of music, randomly inserted sometimes part way through a chapter, interrupting the story, drowning out the reading.... it is appalling.

    "James Herriot books"

    My favourite books.
They deserve to be re recorded and re released INDIVIDUALLY and , (this is important) , ...UNABRIDGED , preferably retaining Christopher Timothy as reader, oh,...and, without the skips and jumps,...and incidental music.
come on Audible, you can do it. 😊

Brilliant start to finish. Perhaps a teensy bit twee in places but so what? I like sentimentality. Christopher Timothy's narration was superb. He does every accent and inflection with ease... Recommended!

Been a fan for years and thought I had read them all. This tells a different story but well done and would not be the same without Timothy narrating.
