About this listen

No books. No long lists of vocabulary. No chance of failure.

Welcome to Learn with Paul Noble – a tried and tested language learning method that has been used by over 1 million people to speak fluently and confidently.

Take your Japanese to the next level and further your fluency with Paul’s simple, relaxed approach and learn in a way that suits you – without having to memorise long lists of words you won’t use; scribbling notes as you listen; or feeling frustrated.

Instead, Paul will help you to you build on your existing Japanese knowledge and guide you through 12 hours of essential tenses and grammar that you need to independently construct sentences and feel confident speaking Japanese in a variety of scenarios. Just listen, interact, and learn wherever you are. This course also contains a handy downloadable booklet to help you revise and reinforce your learning.

Next Steps is an intermediate course, for non-beginners, which follows on from the Learn Japanese with Paul Noble for Beginners – Complete Course.

Paul Noble left school unable to speak a language – having found that the traditional learning methods left him feeling ‘confused, incapable and unable to really say anything’. Determined that there must be a better way to learn, Paul spent years devising his own unique method of learning languages which cuts out all the grammar, all the memorisation, and all the stress. He began using his method to teach in his Language Institute and, thousands of students later, he prides himself on never having had a student fail.

To continue your language learning journey once you’ve completed this course, download Learn with Paul Noble Complete courses in a variety of languages: Spanish, French, Italian, German and Mandarin Chinese.

I can’t comment on what this is like if you are starting from scratch (as a follow on to the first one) but for my purposes it was tremendous- I lived in Japan for two years 29 years ago and am preparing for a family holiday there this year. I haven’t spoken Japanese since I left. This course brought it flooding back with practically zero effort on my part, just listening while doing chores. Exceeded expectations, thank you.

Brilliant for a recap

Listening to the audiobook and Paul asks "what's let's go?" and "what's next year?" in chapter 44, and these are only actually explained in chapter 46.

Seems parts are muddled?

I have a lot of confidence in my speaking abilities after taking the two courses. All we need now is an “Advanced Steps in Japanese” course to follow on from this.

A fantastic course

I would say if someone is looking for a recap on beginner Japanese this is a good read. However this is not what I would call an intermediate level, as sentences are short and simple for holding very basic conversations. Overall, the pacing of this book is well laid out but not difficult for learners beyond post beginner level

Good pacing

Really good, even almost year on from finishing I find myself going back to the review section from time to time. My only criticism is that despite knowing all these books well I am nowhere near intermediate level. I would’ve liked to continue this up to a more advanced level but alas this is the most advanced of all Paul Nobles audiobooks on Japanese.

Brilliant learning by method

I never thought I can learn a new language as an adult, 2 months listening both beginner and intermediate books, I can speak and understand considerably amount of Japanese. I am looking forward to my Japan trip next year.

Best method ever

loved it. good pace, good for learning extra vocabulary and grammar. And very pleasant voices to listen to. It is a lot better quality than the sample you can listen to before you buy it.
