STEP INTO ANOTHER WORLD - OF MAGIC, MAYHEM, MONSTERS AND MANIACAL GODS - IN STEPHEN FRY'S MOMENTOUS SUNDAY TIMES AND AUDIBLE BESTSELLER, MYTHOS

Discover Stephen Fry's magnificent retelling of the greatest myths and legends ever told . . .

No one loves and quarrels, desires and deceives as boldly or brilliantly as Greek gods and goddesses.

In Stephen Fry's vivid retelling, we gaze in wonder as wise Athena is born from the cracking open of the great head of Zeus and follow doomed Persephone into the dark and lonely realm of the Underworld.

Shiver in fear when Pandora opens her jar of evil torments.

Listen with joy as the legendary love affair between Eros and Psyche unfolds.

Read by Stephen Fry himself, Mythos captures these extraordinary myths for our modern age - in all their dazzling and deeply human relevance.

If you're enthralled by the magic of Greek mythology you'll love the final instalment to Fry’s retellings, ODYSSEY, a legendary voyage of peril, temptation, loss and epic adventure.

‘The Greek myths are told to you here by the ever-soothing voice of Stephen Fry, who takes you from Zeus to Athena with his typical humour.’ The Guardian

‘Read by Fry with his accustomed ebullient showmanship [he] gives the legends modern resonance by telling them with a contemporary colloquial twist' AUDIOBOOK of the WEEK, The Times

'Mythos is the best thing he's written since his superb first novel...it is entertaining and edifying - one cannot really ask for more than that.' The Telegraph

If you're enthralled by the magic of Greek mythology you'll love the final instalment to Fry’s retellings, ODYSSEY, a legendary voyage of peril, temptation, loss and epic adventure.

Critic reviews

The Greek myths are told to you here by the ever-soothing voice of Stephen Fry, who takes you from Zeus to Athena with his typical humour. The Greek gods of the past become relatable as pop culture, modern literature and music are woven throughout. It is joyfully informal yet full of the literary legacy threaded through so much of the tapestry of contemporary Greece
Wit and erudition are impressively evident . . . Read by Fry with his accustomed ebullient showmanship [he] gives the legends modern resonance by telling them with a contemporary colloquial twist' (AUDIOBOOK of the WEEK)
Mythos is the best thing he's written since his superb first novel . . . it is entertaining and edifying - one cannot really ask for more than that
Fry's lively writing certainly conveys his lifelong passion for Greek myths . . . It's a rollicking good read
Fry reimagines the Greek myths with wit, warmth and humanity, bringing them into the modern age. A welcome addition to any bookshelf
Mythos is Stephen's vivid retelling of the Greek myths. Bringing to life the Gods, monsters and mortals of Ancient Greece, he reimagines their astonishing stories for the modern world.
Perfect for the 21st Century. Ebullient, funny, Fry retells the Greek myths with elegance
A wondrous new immersion in ancient stories we only thought weknew. Page to page, Mythos is brilliant, funny, erudite, inventive, surprising and enthralling (Richard North Patterson)
[Fry] exhibits prodigious learning, a great facility with words, and enormous erudition and enthusiasm
Lively, humorous and intimate, this retelling has real charm

Thoroughly enjoyed this witty and engaging narrative. I will admit a feeling of massive disappointment though, when the stories just ended at Midas and I discovered that there was no mention of well known tales such as those of Hercules, Icarus, Oedipus, Electra, or the War of Troy. Stephen mentions that if he had covered these stories too the book would've been too long; well I'm hoping he'll read this and see me imploring him now to pleeeease write a part 2 and include the rest! His written style is so lovely to follow, I'm bitterly sad he's not retelling me the whole lot. I've tried reading books of Greek Mythology before, and so often find them dry and hard to follow. This book flowed beautifully. I'm sad it ended. Please write another one Stephen!!! *weeps melodramatically and sacrifices a cow for the muse of writers*

Where does Mythos rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Excellent retelling of Greek myths. Funny and entertaining

What about Stephen Fry’s performance did you like?

His humour and diction kept me engaged. I couldn't wait to hear more.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No - I listened on my commute.

Any additional comments?

It doesn't seem fair for one man to be so darned clever. I know he has his demons but Stephen Fry is so talented and this showcases his brilliance.

Brilliant - why is Stephen Fry so talented?!

Very good book. Enjoyed every minute. A couple of annoying editing errors (repeated lines or obvious alt takes left in) but these are few (4?)

Just get it. It fun.

Brilliant book!

Didn't know a thing about Greek myths, do now. This is an amazing work of art, read by the author. Truly recommend.

This has been a most enjoyable re-introduction to the titans, gods and assorted characters that populate the early Greek myths. I particularly liked the way that the Greeks created such intricate stories in a bid to make some sense of everyday things they didn't understand (The path of the sun, the seasons, why crows are black...)

As expected, Stephen Fry proves yet again why he is hardly off of the TV or radio these days, with his precise and measured tones keeping the listener both engaged and entertained.

Like other listeners I was hoping for the book to go further, and cover the tales of the epic heroes like Theseus, Hercules, Icaraus & Daedalus, and Achilles, but I'm getting the impression that book is still to come....

Highly recommended
