I enjoy everything about these books. They serve as a rest and diversion from more intense crime and thriller novels, without being in the least bit bland. On the contrary, they bring the period to life, no holds barred, and fill out the characters and relationships, social restrictions, poverty and privileges in ways that I didn't expect, and very much enjoy.

I docked one star from performance for the northern accents given to ‘country folk’ given that this is set in the south. That aside, the story is good and well read.

Another great story. The characters are well-rounded and interesting. I enjoyed this even more than the last book which I thought was great. Well written and narrated.

for the Romany people, which really should be mentioned as being reflective of the character's time or not used at all
