Geoff Hurst delivers a couple of chapters that are worth the price of downloading this book on their own. His English reserve and old pro straight forward way of remembering fellow legends and the events leading up to the final scarcely hide his pride and joys… his close family and those comrades from his football career.

Another highlight was the voice of Rupert Farley - particularly for me his Alf Ramsey voice. I was only 4 in ‘66 but I have grown old with these ‘boys’. Treasures all.

Excellent read Takes you back in time when football was played with passion these players forever legends and we had world class players through out the team but no prima donnas unlike today where Money rules the game and mediocre players are made super stars overnight unlike 1966 well the 60s where players connected with the real fans and delivered on pitches in conditions todays players would of refused to play in with a football that got heavier if it rained and if it snowed the lines were cleared and an orange ball used no drama unlike the manicured perfect pitches the beach balls played with today and the constant holding of the head and feigning injuries they were proper players proper men but we also
had a English manager who had a plan and believed in it he told us we would win the World Cup and we did.Up to today we still Havant won another World Cup yet a manager gets knighted for reaching finals and losing about sums up the game today.The players who won the World Cup as Geoff says did there job won the World Cup no big deal in fact did what they were expected to do then Geoff cut his lawns at home and era lost forever players that we will never see the ilk of again World Class players and in all truth we know we have no world class players well any English Players that are any where as good as the 1966 players as well they have never won a World Cup says it all.
