Summary

Kevin Keegan is one of the greatest players in English football history. Throughout his career as a player and manager he was famed for his style on the pitch and his passion for the game, which he shared with his fans.

In My Life in Football, Keegan tells the story of his life, from the streets of Doncaster to signing for Liverpool under Bill Shankly, where he won three First Division titles, two UEFA Cups, a European Cup and the FA Cup before moving to Hamburg, where he won the Bundasliga as well as the Ballon d'Or twice.

After retiring, Keegan enjoyed a legendary five-year spell as manager at Newcastle United, during which the club was promoted to the Premier League and then finished runners up in the top flight, not once but twice.

In My Life in Football, Keegan tells the full story of the glorious highs but also the pain of managing England and his unhappy return to Newcastle for a short-lived second tenure.

Brilliant, funny, passionate, deeply moving and incredibly honest, My Life in Football is the full story of an incredible journey from miner's son to being crowned 'King Kev' by his adoring fans.

This audiobook includes a bonus-feature interview with the author, Kevin Keegan.

Throwback to my happiest football memories

This wonderful book took me back to the happiest memories I have as a Newcastle fan and some of the best times I enjoyed with my dad. A hero of my dad's as a player and a hero of us both as a manager. I can now appreciate much more fully Kevin achievements before my time and decisions which I couldn't understand on occasion. The book confirms why we all loved keegan, a charismatic. passionate man who wears his heart on his sleve. I only whish he'd narrated the audio book himself (no slight against the narrator, who is very good). Kevin, i wish you all the best in your retirement. Howay the lads!

Doesn’t do this incredible career justice

It’s one hell of a story, but weakened by the man himself not reading it.

Comes across, to me, just a bit too “into himself”. But having said that his honesty and passion for the game are only reinforced by this book.

Thanks for the memories KK

Great Book. Great Man!!!

As expected, a great listen. What a career! What a life! Well narrated although the narrator is clearly not a football man given his pronunciations of players and foreign teams!! I'm surprised this wasn't put right before it being published. Other than that I highly recommend this audio book!!!

fantastic book

I really loved this book. A totally honest look at football through the career of a fantastic player and manager. I've always liked Kevin Keegan and his honest approach to life and it's perfectly reflected in this book.

A must for any football fan.

Nothing Sensational

Kevin is a great guy and was a great footballer but this isn't a great sporting autobiography. Would have been better if he had narrated it himself as I personally found the narration annoying at times with too many forced comedy chuckles thrown in. Not sorry I bought the book or I would have returned it but by no means gripping, and certainly a must for any Liverpool or Newcastle fan.

A must read for middle aged football fans

An honest account of football over the last four decades and an insightful look at Kevin's time at Newcastle in particular. Highly recommended

Everything you ever wanted to know about KK!

A great read! His story, how football has changed (for better & worse) and as a Toon fan, finally we learn about why he left Newcastle in 1997 and 2008.

Loved it!!!!

This book certainly did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Kevin Keegan is the man I always thought he was, a man of great integrity. He is a legend in our national game.
