Summary

Kevin Keegan is one of the greatest players in English football history. Throughout his career as a player and manager he was famed for his style on the pitch and his passion for the game, which he shared with his fans.

In My Life in Football, Keegan tells the story of his life, from the streets of Doncaster to signing for Liverpool under Bill Shankly, where he won three First Division titles, two UEFA Cups, a European Cup and the FA Cup before moving to Hamburg, where he won the Bundasliga as well as the Ballon d'Or twice.

After retiring, Keegan enjoyed a legendary five-year spell as manager at Newcastle United, during which the club was promoted to the Premier League and then finished runners up in the top flight, not once but twice.

In My Life in Football, Keegan tells the full story of the glorious highs but also the pain of managing England and his unhappy return to Newcastle for a short-lived second tenure.

Brilliant, funny, passionate, deeply moving and incredibly honest, My Life in Football is the full story of an incredible journey from miner's son to being crowned 'King Kev' by his adoring fans.

This audiobook includes a bonus-feature interview with the author, Kevin Keegan.

Throwback to my happiest football memories

This wonderful book took me back to the happiest memories I have as a Newcastle fan and some of the best times I enjoyed with my dad. A hero of my dad's as a player and a hero of us both as a manager. I can now appreciate much more fully Kevin achievements before my time and decisions which I couldn't understand on occasion. The book confirms why we all loved keegan, a charismatic. passionate man who wears his heart on his sleve. I only whish he'd narrated the audio book himself (no slight against the narrator, who is very good). Kevin, i wish you all the best in your retirement. Howay the lads!

Wonderful story of life and luck

This is an excellently listen about a man of talent who acknowledges that you also need a bit of luck. There are loads of fun anecdotes as well as interesting insides to the world of football. Keegan is an honourable man who came into contact with many, particularly at Newcastle, who were not. This is a good story.

The legend of King Kevin Keegan

Kevin Keegan was the first football player I saw live in 1973 and what a player - he played with heart soul commitment and honesty and that’s what you hear in this compelling autobiography. He writes his truth in a fascinating football and life journey and it’s a compelling listen. My lifelong love of football and Liverpool Fc started that day - Thank you KKK.

Honest as expected

I’ve always really liked KK as he always comes across as genuine, positive and sincere. This book didn’t disappoint. He was very open about where he fell short and it is clear where he excelled. One thing that is also clear is that he is a man of integrity and the debacle of his last stint at Newcastle was nothing short of horrifying.

I’d Love it

Ric’s delivery style throughout Kevin’s book was superb. Delivered with humour when it happened and with angst at some of the trickier times in Kevin’s life.

Even if you’re not a football fan it was an excellent listen that kept me enthralled from start to finish.

Finally the details...

As you'd expect from King Kev this is an honest and frank account of his time in football, including the fallout from his 2nd spell as manager of Newcastle United. It beggars belief the club has been run in such a shoddy manner. Enjoyed this from beginning to end, Keegan's drive to win and progress shines through. Not a big fan of the performance, which I found a bit slow, would have preferred someone more in line with Kevin's own voice and tempo, which can be heard on the interview at the end of the audio-book.

Very interesting story

I found this autobiography very interesting hearing what happened behind the scenes particularly at Newcastle. Just wish Kevin was still involved somewhere in football as he still has a lot of knowledge to give.

Fire the narrator!

Love King Kev, but man, that narrator gots to go! I’m really having to slog through this audio book, with the narrator’s drab voice threatening to put me to sleep! There are a couple of cool stories in the book too, but the guy goes through it like, “Nothing to see here everybody, move on...”

Would have been way better if Kevin Keegan himself had narrated the book.
