About this listen

A rich and exciting feline fantasy world in which epic battles for territory and honour are played out, perfect for fans of Brian Jacques’ Redwall series.

When ‘kittypet’ Rusty strays into the forest beyond his owner’s garden and is ambushed by a wild cat, life as he knows it is over.

After a brave fight, he is invited to leave the ‘twoleg’ world and join ThunderClan, one of four cat tribes, to train as a warrior.

Rusty becomes Firepaw and learns laws of the wild – hunting and fighting to protect the clan’s survival.

When the fearsome ShadowClan threaten ThunderClan’s territory his warrior skills are put to the test. But how can he protect the clan when he suspects their own deputy of treachery?

I first got into the Warriors series many years ago and recently started on the 'Dawn of Clans' series. But I realized it had been over a decade since I experienced the original series, so I decided to have a look at this. I wasn't sure what to expect because there weren't many reviews, but it ended up being truly excellent! MacLeod Andrews breathes life into the story by giving each character a distinct voice and manner of speaking and lending the necessary tension to exciting and emotional scenes. I was thoroughly impressed and will be having a look at the other books in this series as well.

A thrilling performance of a beloved classic

Returning to a childhood classic, Andrew's performance was brilliant and made me appreciate the artistry, the planning and hard work that goes into narration and voice acting. His ability to give each character their own distinctive voice was an absolute joy to listen to and brought the narrative to life. I've been aware of the Warrior Cats series from a young age but never managed to get into it for whatever reason but I'm catching up. The plot was exciting, full of more deaths than I would have anticipated but made all the more meaningful for it. It was fun diving into the harsh life of these cats and I can't help but wonder what our feral feline friends get up to without human intervention. Excited for the other books in the series!

Only quip: I noticed the Audible chapters did not match up to the actual book chapters being 2 chapters behind, causes some confusion when trying to revisit previous chapters but not a massive deal.

Brilliant!
