THE SUNDAY TIMES NO. 1 BESTSELLER

The tenth Logan McRae novel from the No. 1 bestselling author.

‘Top drawer … his most epic outing yet’ Independent

Trouble is coming…

Sergeant Logan McRae’s team find a body dumped in the woods – but is it the missing businessman they’ve been searching for, or something far more sinister? It doesn’t help that his ex-boss is taking over the case, a new Superintendent has it in for him, and Professional Standards are looming.

Even worse: Aberdeen’s criminal overlord, Wee Hamish Mowat, is dying and rival gangs all over the UK are eying his territory.

There’s a war brewing and Logan’s trapped right in the middle, whether he likes it or not.

Another fantastic addition to the series. These books have everything. Genuine characters, exciting storylines and a great setting. I particularly like the way that everything that Logan has to endure is reflected in his developing character. He's a fully fleshed out person with believable and conflicted thought processes.
The narration by Steve Worsely is wonderful.

Brilliant

Great listen as always but logan macray has gone way down in my estimation he's always a bit of a wimp but treachery and hypocrisy? can't say anymore or I'll spoil it but disappointed in this character now.

logan character disappoints!

Would you listen to In the Cold Dark Ground again? Why?

Yes I would, so many plot twists and asides.

What did you like best about this story?

The black humour and the relationship between Logan and Steele.

Which character – as performed by Steve Worsley – was your favourite?

DCI Steele .

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was taken aback in a few places and certainly a few gasps.

Any additional comments?

This series gets better and better, I can't wait to see what happens next to Logan and co.

This has got to be my favourite Logan McCrae book so far with all. the twists and turns - so much going on and so many emotions. Love how it's written, love the humour too with Steele. Brilliantly performed as always xx

The best yet!

This novel is almost like an apology from Stuart MacBride, for in my view, the drop in quality of the last couple of outings of DS Logan McRae. Of course, MacBride is doing no such thing and I seriously doubt he would even entertain the idea that he feels the need. Nevertheless, there is no harm in me pretending because this one is an exciting, funny, poignant read that truly is a return to form of previous novels like Blind Eye and the fantastic debut, Cold Granite. Thank you Mr MacBride, apology completely and utterly accepted.

One of the best
