Il mondo di ieri è il disperato tentativo di difendere il mondo che si è amato e si vede destinato a scomparire, il mondo della grande cultura - di Rilke, Hofmannstahl, Rodin, Freud ecc. - refrattaria alle esaltazioni guerresche e collettiviste.
