Summary

beautiful story very well told

the characters, especially the mother and father, really came alive thanks to all the typical phrases that the writer recalls

Grazie

a great waste of opportunity for the writer and great waste of time for the reader

A story written looking through a keyhole, missing entirely the sense. No fresco of a tine nor of a soul, no sociological meaning, no psychological analysis.
So dull that the parents of the writer, certainty solid persons, appear as idiots. A shame!

May be it is the mirror of a disgraceful generation of self declared intellectuals which has damaged Italy so much.

If I think to other female writers (Morante- la storia or more recently Ferrante) the comparison in embarrassing!

A waste opportunity: because the writer, for privilege of birth, had the opportunity to know great personalities (Olivetti, Einaudi, Turati…)
but the reader is left with frustration because the book is empty. zero.

Splendida Margherita Buy e bella storia

beautiful reading of an Italian classic

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Mergherita Buy reads beautifully, her Italian is so crisp and clear (she is an actress after all) her tone shows such an understanding of the significance of what she's reading. A real treat.

What did you like best about this story?

It's a great novel

What does Margherita Buy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

An immediacy and an understanding of the sub-text.
