The best self employment guide by FAR!
Where does Go It Alone: The Streetwise Secrets of Self Employment rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I have read and listened to many books about self employment and in my opinion this is the best. It covers the way of life to make a success of employing yourself by covering all the skills your previous employer would deal with in the way of sales, marketing and achieving excellence. It also opened my eyes that time is precious to all of us and by employing yourself you will have control over this. So, if you want to learn how to sell your precious time for the best fee for your line of work - grab a copy of this: i highly recommend it.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I have also listened to Geoff's other books (self made me and resistance is useless) and whilst also excellent, i have to say Geoff reading this himself was the icing on the cake! I can really feel the humour in this book - and there is a lot of it! Its easy to listen to and very informative.
Which character – as performed by Geoff Burch – was your favourite?
As above
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The importance of our time has really hit home. Geoff explains that its one balance we are all born with but never know when its going to run out as there are no statements.
Any additional comments?
I can recommend anyone contemplating becoming self employed (or who is already and wants to find and retain more customers) to purchase this. I actually bought the kindle version whilst on holiday a while ago and and because i spend a fair bit of time on the road when i saw the audible version had to have that too!

Brilliant book, funny, entertaining, down to Earth
I enjoyed this book, there are no flights of fancy and Geoff cleverly uses humour to make the points. It's down to Earth and it doesn't suggest you have to go it alone, but if you do, there are certain skills you will need.

A seriously funny book on self-employment
What did you like most about Go It Alone: The Streetwise Secrets of Self Employment?
A seriously funny book on self-employment
This is not your normal super positive golden conveyor belt to success in self-employment book but a honest advice on how to become and stay self-employed. By pointing out some of the things that can go wrong, making you see where ‘good’ opportunities can be a bad thing and an understanding of the potential horrors of contracts, in a fun and silly way.
Some people may find the sections on selling a bit heavy, but as it is the one thing that will make you any money, you should read it and read it again.
Having read other books on this subject, it is more guidance than a step by step plan, there is no stop listening now and do… moments and the book can be enjoyed in a single listen or on the WC
This is the third book I have listened to from Geoff Burch, as always a witty and tongue in cheek style that is this time delivered by the man himself. Normally authors reading their own work is crap, but in this case he takes it to a whole new level. Delivering warnings in a laugh out loud style causing me to spit coffee over the dashboard, see ‘stop! He is the devil in disguise’.
A worthwhile listen
