Discover some techniques that you can use for you to speak this sensual language ( for me). I can't believe that I can now speak and understand French in a span of 3 weeks. Great deal!

Good book

Each story to practice your French. The audio is clear and smooth. I'm rather picky on language books, and I love it when language books are easy while remaining accurate and educational. This one definitely gets my approval!

A wonderful opportunity for me

This book is a great way to learn French. I have studied French before but I learn best when I am fully immersed in a language. This was a great way to read stories and learn at the same time. It takes some studying and really thinking about the use of words and the order difference from English.

Easy to follow

I thought French: Short Stories for Beginners + Audio was a great book. I took French in High school and 2 semesters in college, and it was a refresher and very easy to follow.

Horrible.

As a beginner, you will find this audio book useless. I like to learn during long rides or runs and this audio book is very disappointing. I wish I could return it.

Terrible accent

Where is the speaker from, Duluth? And he has a lisp! This does not help when you are trying to learn nasalized vowels or the rest of the language. The ideas promoted by the series are very good but if you want to speak French that is understood in FRANCE, stay away from this series.

The speaker is deficient

Unfortunately the speaker is very deficient in both pronunciation and enunciation.

This probably would has been very easy for me to catch by listening to the sample. However I made the mistake of purchasing this book simply based on the 5 star comments.

dmDo not buy audiobook

So wanted this to be better. Might be ok in print but the narration is horrible (so bad it's difficult to believe it was done seruously) and the text does not lend itself to audio form.

Terrible. Talks like a car salesman in a radio ad.

The narrator talks so fast, that you have to literally stop the book every ten seconds or you are completely lost. There's no possible way a human being can learn French from this book. It is abysmal and flies through things-for instance, he speaks a bunch of garbled words in French then says, "You don't need to know what they mean, just practice the pronunciation". Then he quickly (within a millisecond) launches into articles, feminine or masculine, speaking through all those articles at light speed...not helpful. It should start with a sentence, then what it means, then break it down into grammar lessons...Ugh. This was painful to listen to. I couldn't get through it. I switched to another method (online lessons).

I have really enjoyed this book

the audio really helps on how to pronounce every word in French. As what I've experienced, if you are learning a new language, it would be an advantage if you know how to pronounce it as well and not just learning how to write or use it in a sentence.

The idea of teaching the language through stories

it helped me to understand rules to French that I hadn't known before because I was never introduced to it from a higher level teacher. There were words in it that I knew and understand.

Great way to learn

It kept me focused and concentrated on learning in a way that I hadn't been able to before when trying to learn a different language. Of course, I spent my time with the audiobook, so I would listen to how the words were pronounced and then rewind and speak along with the audio until what I was saying matched what they did

French in Action

I am much more comfortable speaking now that my verbs come to me more quickly and naturally. The drills give you practice in random order and that has been enormously helpful.
