Das Leben ist (k)ein Schützenfest!

Heinz Strunk macht in seinem Hörbuch „Fleisch ist mein Gemüse“ aus seiner halb-autobiographischen Coming-of-Age-Geschichte eine zum Brüllen komische Achterbahnfahrt aus Peinlichkeiten, Tanzmusik und den tagtäglichen Schwierigkeiten des Musikerlebens. Der unverwechselbare norddeutsche Akzent des Autors, der das Hörbuch auch spricht, entführt uns sofort an die Elbe.

In Harburg aufgewachsen und nichts Richtiges geworden: Das ist der gerade eben volljährige Heinz Strunk, der sich schließlich der Tanzkapelle „Tiffany’s“ anschließt und von Volksfest zu Volksfest tingelt. Strunk versteht es, der gnadenlos komischen (Miss-)Erfolgsgeschichte Leben einzuhauchen, besonders durch seine wandelbare Stimme und die Gesangseinlagen.

Heinz Strunk schafft in seinem Hörbuch ein urkomisches, aber auch bewegendes Zeugnis der kleinen Leute, über deren Missgeschicke man zwar lachen, mit denen man aber auch irgendwie mitfühlen kann.

Summary

Wie es ist, in Harburg aufzuwachsen, das weiß Heinz Strunk genau. Harburg, nicht Hamburg.
Mitte der 80er ist Heinz volljährig und hat immer noch Akne, immer noch keinen Job, immer noch keinen Sex. Doch dann wird er Bläser bei "Tiffanys", einer Showband, die auf den Schützenfesten zwischen Elbe und Lüneburger Heide bald zu den größten gehört. Aber auch das Musikerleben hat seine Schattenseiten: traurige Gaststars, heillose Frauengeschichten, sehr fettes Essen und Hochzeitsgesellschaften, die immer nur eins hören wollen: "An der Nordseeküste" von Klaus und Klaus.

Great humour. Only if you like irony, sarcasm

Would you listen to Fleisch ist mein Gemüse again? Why?

yup. Because it brings a smile to my face repeatedly. And I am a rather moody person. Made me lol in the bus several times.

What did you like best about this story?

The boy its about is so damn normal and uninteresting it hurts. But that makes it funny. And the constant play with the German language and the weird little things in Germany in the 80s is funny.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

None in particular. THey were all funny.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a lot. Helped me in this rather hard phase of life by bringing on a good mood
