Summary

Out of Practice is based around a large country medical practice, which proves to be a hotbed of rivalry, resentment and romance - and that's just the doctors. Think James Herriot meets House.

Meet married mum of two and successful GP Holly Graham as she relocates her family to join the team at The Practice at Beckerford, hoping to find the peaceful life she craves, despite the chaos that comes with her two-year-old twins and the troublesome state of her marriage. It will certainly be a challenge to keep her private and professional lives separate in such a tight-knit community.

Her colleagues have their own issues to contend with. The gorgeous Dr. Dan Carter is struggling to focus on work, and the last thing he needs is any more stress; having his ambitious ex-girlfriend, Dr. Julia Channing, working alongside him isn't really helping. Thankfully the rather delectable Dr. Taffy Jones is on hand to distract Holly from the escalating situation at home.

Feisty octogenarian and resident celebrity Elsie Townsend is Holly's favorite patient and saving grace. Elsie's inspirational life lessons come at the perfect moment, as the practice is suddenly under threat of imminent closure, and Holly rediscovers her voice and her priorities just in time.

Good story

This book had a good but predictable story line. The reading was done nicely and she gave a voice to all the characters, some good some not so good! Didn't like the swearing in it but that's just personal preference. Would get another one of the authors books to try. Hope this helps 😎

Great Listen While Travelling Alone

What made the experience of listening to Out of Practice the most enjoyable?

I took this audio book on holiday where I knew I would have time to kill in airports and train stations etc. It was a light hearted romantic story that was easy on the ears and filled in the time that would have otherwise been a bit boring as I was travelling on my own.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Out of Practice?

The river swim event.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Taffy revealing his feelings.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The moment when she realised what her future could hold.

Any additional comments?

Might look out for more by same author for future travels.

An easy read

This was a pleasant book to listen to and well read by Anna Bentinck. It wasn't challenging but there was plenty of content and the characters were quite well drawn and sympathetic.
