Summary

Jamie Tolland has only ever known his small Oregon town. Same job, same friends, same gay bar. He feels obligated to stay, especially as his mother's illness progresses. But when a situation presents itself in the form of a vintage sports car, he jumps on the chance to not only repair it, but also drive it to its new owner in LA.

Conner Murphy left Oregon years ago to make his life in West Hollywood. Like his unconventional parents, he's always been a free spirit, never settling on one job or girl for too long. When he inherits his late uncle's classic Chevelle, he's more than happy to let his childhood friend Jamie help.

Jamie and Conner are as different as night and day. Even after years of living apart, they still have a blast together - but now it's mixed with an undeniable spark of attraction. Before they know it, they can't keep their hands off each other. For Conner it's all new and exciting, but Jamie isn't the type of guy who takes this sort of intimacy lightly.

Conner soon realizes that Jamie quenches something deep inside of him that no one has before, but he doesn't know how to handle a real relationship. As Jamie's time in LA comes to an end, and the more they struggle to get on the same page about their feelings, the more Jamie realizes that trying to tie Conner down is as futile as capturing the sun.

A Classic Car and 2 Hot Men!

Well written, fun, a little introspective and a lot steamy. Great coming of age and love story rolled into one.

Good Narration, not so much the story

1. It is California, not Cali orSoCal, insulting to me and most Natives..and grafting to hear over and over.think slow sliding of fingernails “on chalkboard over and over while you try to listen.

2. Character development was slim to none..

3. Predictive and Giant snore, but author made up with amazing narration, once you get over the tone of the book, which the. Best way to describe is Whinny, author had no choice to make passable.

Great Narration...3.4 Stars

While I liked this book, something was missing for me. Maybe what was missing was plot? Maybe chemistry? It had some of both, but I had a difficult time connecting with the MCs for most of the book.

We met Conner in the previous book in the series; Jamie, his childhood friend from Oregon is a new character. Conner intrigued me from time to time, the way he used comedy and sarcasm to hide deeper emotions. However, I had more of a difficult time in how easily he acknowledged the fluid side of his sexuality. Perhaps this is true for some people somewhere, especially if they were raised on a hippy commune as he was, but it didn't ring true for me.

Jamie was a flatter character than Conner--someone leaving his small town for the first time to get a look at the big city. He really didn't interest me much.

While I didn't feel emotionally invested in these characters as I did with the MCs in Touch the Sky, I enjoyed their story well enough--especially the sex scenes ;)

Two narrators...I love that!

Firstly, this is exactly how I like my audiobooks to be narrated…with two narrators. This has been a favorite style of mine for a while now, and though I have some favorite narrators who do a stellar job all on their own, I get the most pleasure when I have one narrator per main character. It really does give the story more depth and some much needed realism.

Secondly, wow, this is a great story and even better when being performed by Tyler and Iggy. I loved both Jamie and Connor. They are both truly decent guys who have very little drama or angst between them. That, in and of itself, is surprising for me since I tend to love the heartbreaking stories. But, every once in awhile, you come across that story that just hits you in all the right ways. The drama for these two is the fact Connor is just coming to understand he is not completely straight, but more fluid, maybe bi. It is not an issue for him, at all, but he does have some commitment issues due to his parents’ free and open relationship. In his mind, if his parents can’t commit to one person, maybe he won’t be able to, either.

Jamie is just a small-town Oregon boy who gets to drive a cool car to his childhood friend in Los Angeles. What he doesn’t expect is the few weeks he spends with Connor to come with attraction and feelings, and a need to see more than his small town. He wants to really live. He was so not expecting that but doesn’t want to push anything onto Connor and make things odd within their friendship.

On a side note, I am not sure which narrator performed Connor, but he has the best voice. I just loved listening to him speak. Jamie’s performance was just as great, but I still loved that voice. It gave me goosebumps in a friend-zone sort of way.

Highly recommend this series and this book, both in audio, obviously.

Overall Impression: I really liked it!

The narrator in the sample

The main reason I decided to get this book was because I liked the narrator from the sample. He is the voice of Jamie. As I began listening I realized both narrators were good, but I still preferred the voice of Jamie. A few chapters in, however, the narrator changed the voice for Jamie, making him sound professorial. The shift was jarring and, unfortunately, stuck for the remainder of the book. As a result I ended up liking the Conner narration better because it sounded like you would expect Conner to sound. Real. The new pompous-sounding Jamie just didn't fit his character. It almost seemed like the reader began using his platform to audition for a narration gig on some Pulitzer-winning novel and Jamie-be-damned. Sad.

Anyhow, the story and narration was better than average, I guess, so four-stars.

The is is an amazing well written story with a twist. The main characters are loveable and well developed. The story isn't without some angst and there is some hot sexy action that will leave you breathless. The narration was so perfect.
