Summary

La segunda novela de Javier Cercas, un juego de espejos kafkiano, con prólogo del autor.

El mismo día que conoce a Daniel Berkowicz, su nuevo vecino e inesperado compañero de trabajo, Mario Rota se tuerce el tobillo. Estos dos imprevistos simultáneos señalan el principio de la intrusión de la contrariedad y el desconcierto en su monótona vida de profesor de fonología en una universidad del Medio Oeste americano, pero sobre todo desencadenan una pesadilla erizada de amenazas, presagios e inminencias en la que el oyente no tiene más remedio que acompañar a Rota hasta el sorprendente final de su peripecia.
