Beautifully performed

A vivid story, with strong characters that you can picture in front of you. That captures the social attitudes and mores of the time. There are three wonderful performances by Angela Lansbury, James Earl Jones, Boyd Gaines. All their lives are there for us to witness and what happened in their past. The ending is perfectly judged.

I've never seen the movie, but I don't think it could improve much upon this performance. The incomparable Angela Lansbury, the warm, rich voice of James Earl Jones and the foil of Boyd Gaines bring this play to life. It doesn't need a cast of hundreds and a fancy location - the power is in the relationships, the dialogue and the actors. It is much more powerful to listen to the words with no visual distraction.
I chanced upon this and nearly passed by. I'm so glad I listened. Amazing work.

Wonderful play brought to life by some excellent actors - big fan of both Angela Lansbury and Jamed Earl Jones here. The background music also added to the atmosphere.
