Summary

An all-new official, original novel from the twisted world of the hit horror video game, Bendy and the Ink Machine!

Seventeen-year-old Buddy Lewek has spent most of his life trying to escape the Lower East Side slums of New York City.Working as a delivery boy to support his family, Buddy wants to become an artist, a dream he’s sure will never be realized. But that all changes when a delivery job puts him face-to-face with Mister Joey Drew, the eccentric owner of an animation studio. Mister Drew takes Buddy under his wing as an apprentice, thrusting him into a world unlike anything Buddy has ever seen before. There’s the colorful cast of the studio, from the cranky, yet driven composer Sammy Lawrence to the cheerful voice actress Allison Pendle to Dot, the writing intern and Buddy’s counterpart. After his first glamorous studio party, Buddy starts to think that maybe it’s really as simple as Mister Drew says: Dreams do come true. But not everything at the studio is as picture-perfect as it seems...

Something is going bump in the night at Joey Drew Studios, something that leaves behind trails of thick, dark ink. While the studio frantically works toward their latest deadline, Buddy and Dot team up to find out just what is tormenting the studio after-hours, even if it means tracking the trail to Mister Drew himself.

Don't miss this official pulse-pounding story from award-winning author Adrienne Kress!

This amazing book is not only super descriptive but it is very well read. It gives Easter eggs for the game too.

My First Audiobook?

I play games more than I listen to books so not sure how to critique this. I personally loved the story and narration! It was clear and easy to follow. Mild spoilers ahead if you've come from the game and want to read without knowing some of the characters that appear. I wonder if the narrator has actually played the game series this book was from? I ask this based on the voices he gave the characters that were in the main series with voices of their own. Some of the voices sounded like he was trying to replicate them? For the most part the voices are decent. Kind of different , But decent. The voice he gave Sammy was a little grating, but I won't knock off points cause I guess his voice isn't easy to imitate. The rest of them were easy to recognize. And the voices for the story original characters were good. Overall I'm giving this a positive review.

An excellent pre-qual story to the games

I was hesitant at first as I was expecting just a rewrite of the story from the game, but I was pleasantly surprised to get a really nice graphic pre-qual that ties nicely into the games story and even explains many aspects that you where left to work out for yourself prior to this.

The narrative was top notch also, giving voice to many characters in really well done ways
Honestly if you are a fan of the game or not this is an excellent read

Basic Story

I found the main character uninteresting and submissive while Dot was a Marysue, who was perfect, which made cringe at her geass ability to control people. Overall the story had some nice lines but the weight of the story versus game story is negligible at worst and boring at best

Ngl this gave me chills with the creepy music and the voice and the story.... the creepy slow burn element was truly thrilling and definitely worth the extra credit.

That's about it. I really love it. I would like a bit more voice acting, but it was good.

Literacy fluency

The female reading this was horrible. The fluency by which she read this was as if my 3rd grader was reading it. We could not focus on the story with all of her mistakes.

Really Great!

I've never played Bendy and the Ink Machine, but I've seen the playthroughs and I know the story. I wasn't expecting much coming into this novel, having just come off of reading the FNAF books. This was a fantastic addition to the story and the lore and fills in enough gaps to make it satisfactory, but leaves you with enough questions to look at the game in a different way!

I really liked this novel, and the voice work was fantastic! if you are a fan of the games, or a fan of light horror, pick this up because it was a great read
