Great continuation of this gripping story
The narrator's reading style is a little irritating, with a deep, nasal whine which ends each sentence with a drawling, husky, long drawn out macho cowboyish low note, like the Marlboro Man, as if he's doing a voice over for something mysteriously manly and over-dramatic. It does sound a bit wanky and quickly gets hard on tbe ears. But apart from that, he is great at all the accents and gives each character a distinctly different voice. He has changed the pronunciation of Tzion Ben Judah's nane from "Zion" to "Tzeeyone". As a British reader, I do find the American pronunciations a little distracting ("Gala" pronounced "gayla", "elite" becomes "Ayleet", "horror" is now "haarrr" and "buoyed" changes from "boyd" to "booeed"). But aside from all that, it's a fantastic story, he's very expressive and the characters are realistic, believable and lovable. Toddler Kenny Bruce seems to spend an unrealistic amount of time sleeping! One main criticism: slightly repetitive on certain things. Everybody's phone "chirps" (as if they all have the exact same message tone) and the authors don't appear to know any other words for "said". "he said", "she said", nobody replies , answers, confirms, exclaims etc. Shame.
Each book seems to get shorter and shorter as well, even though they are all the same price, which seems a bit of a rip off.

Great book, great series, annoying narrator.
The first 7 books were narrated by the same person and then in 8 they switched to another who continued in this one (9). I don't usually have a problem with that and expected to get past it by the middle of #8. The two things that continue to annoy me is how he pronounces Zion and this weird breathy voice at the end of each sentence when reading the narrator portions. It's like he is trying to make it extra dramatic. For the most part he does a great job on the dialogue portions incorporating many different accents. I know this was recorded 15 years ago and hopefully Mr. Muller has honed his craft. Overall it's worth listening to. I am thankful for the audiobook version since I would never find time to sit down and read it otherwise.

Bad Reading
You need to listen to this book to make it through the rest of the series, but you will really appreciate Richard Ferrone after this.
Three stars is generous. I liked the story, but the narrator made it somewhat less than enjoyable. In all fairness to the narrator though, where was the producer?

Another horrible narration by Muller
This is such a great story ruined by horrendous narration by Frank Muller. Carpathia sounds like Dracula, Fortunato sounds like a blend between a Boston collegian and a philly food truck owner. The silly country accents are so out of place. So distracting all the way through. Richard Ferrone was so much better at narrating this series.

still enjoying the books
I have to suspend my beliefs just a bit at the comical ignorance and stupidity of the villains., but it's worth it. that and frank over doing his Romanian accent to the point of Dracula. yet the story remains a good adaptation of what might the last days be. on to the next I go👍🏼😊
