Summary

Do you want to know all about data science? Do you really want to understand why it is the future in all the most demanding job?

Over the last few years, data science has changed the concept of technology. It is adding value to every model of business by using deep learning and statistics. Technological benefits of data science cannot also be ignored.

The demand for data science is increasing rapidly. The basic reason behind this is the massive boom in the data generated and retained by the companies. Also known as “big data”, data scientists make the best use of this available information and figure out their best use.

The team of data scientists also help in generating a good amount of analytics from the information available. This information brings clarity to people on how to interact with the web and are the foundations on which most of the critical business strategies rest. The demand for the data scientists is gradually increasing and so there must be proper learning resources for them to cultivate their knowledge.

A data scientist has the following tasks to do:

  • Analyse data
  • Modelling/statistics
  • Engineering/prototyping

A lot of data is available in every organization. All of them are not that easy to format. A data scientist’s job mainly revolves around formatting these data, keeping in mind some set of rules.

The goal of this book is simple: provide a perfect insight into data science from scratch. It clearly explains the difference between data science and big data, explaining the concept of big data very concisely and clearly. Operations on data are also very clearly explained in this audiobook. The book is also an ultimate guide to master data mining and data-analytic.

Outstanding.

When I was in college, the joke about Comp Sci was that it was really just "applied math." That wasn't really funny, but it is gosh-darned true, doubly so when dealing with data science, AI, and ML, all of which are fancy words for "applied statistics."

Easily the best data science book.

Easily the best data science bookThis is the first book to finally succeed Segaran's Programming Collective Intelligence. It always teaches concepts with real world and plausible examples. The author's humor is subtlety felt through out the book to keep things entertaining.

Excellent use is made of clear, concise verbiage to make things "black and white". (save the color images and other crutches for the board room stakeholders!)

Yes, there is numpy, pandas, and a host of other packages and frameworks available to perform many of the examples of what is explained in the book. But you need to broaden your knowledge with this material that touches the "bare metal" of Data Science.

Good Coverage of the "Bare Metal" of basic Data Science. If you need a good broad brush to learn from, the second revision (in monochrome) is the book for you!

Data science made easy type of audio book

It's a great start if you want to understand data sciences. Another thing this audio book does particularly well, is that it tell you what the next step are in term of other books to listen. I have not try using the codes example yet but I ll do so in the future. That s being said if you are just curious about data science and you are new to the field, you can skip the code part.

Content delivered with humor and style

The phrase "from scratch" made me think this was a beginner audio book, but it's not really. It builds step-by-step from first principles to quite advanced algorithms and topics. For me, it's usually much easier to understand a mathematical or statistical concept if I can implement it or see it implemented in code, and so I found the approach taken here very effective.

Elegant Pythonic programming with Machine Learning

You will construct functions that calculate the variance, standard deviation etc. up to constructing more advanced machine learning functions, from scratch. What is pretty underrated about this audio book is the very clean and challenging way of constructing code and solving problems. Things can get very .nested. Very valuable resource that I come back to again.

Non-statistician that wants to be a Data Scientist

My view, too many people want to be data scientist and use advance statistical techniques that they don't fully understand. I believe closes this gap with this fun introductory audio book to some of the basic techniques in data analysis. If you don't come from a statistical background , then you should start with this book and move on to other texts such as Pattern.

I like that that there are enough details

Started programming Python immediately with this audio book. Lots of concepts for one audio book. I like that that there are enough details to write a functional program for each chapter and not too many details. It's important to find a proper material to start, and this audio book, in my opinion, does it perfectly.

Neural networks and algorithms.

Neural networks and algorithms are described in an easy way. Neural networks and algorithms are described in an easy way with program examples, I'm learning python and working with neural networks, its a helpful resource for students.

Some of the concepts central to data science

The audio book begins with the basics of the Python language in a chapter entitled Course in Python.recommends the Anaconda distribution of Python, as do I. It is free, includes Python, and that are used in the book, and includes pandas which we will use to handle financial data. This is not the book I would recommend for a person new to Python to learn the language,

not good as an audio book

The audio refers to several visuals as well as software code that is not easily comprehended without visuals.

Does not live up to its title

- I think that there are some chapters that should not be presented in audio format. - I perceived that a considerable part of the content is repetitive. - The ideas are either to vague or to narrow.

Excellent introduction to key principles in data scienceI was shocked to see that the new edition of this book had a one-star rating--but it turns out to be a single guy whining about the book being in monochrome (as almost all physical books are).

Excellent Book.

This book is very practical and helpful. It contains the python pseudo code for many basic Data Analysis From Scratch With Python, which was exactly what I was looking for. It would be helpful to have more information of what libraries commands come from. Recommend it

Audio book for Data Science, Data Analytic

An excellent job tying a "real-world" scenario into the flow of this book to teach python for Data Science. I have experience with python but even those with little to no python experience can learn from this audio book. The only reasons for are first, I would like to see the code for all charts used in the audio book like in section on "Statistics". Second,

Deep dive into algebra but not for actual use

This audio book is good to understand the concepts behind the most common data science algebra. It also enables readers to build their Python skills by listening the associated code. However, there may be better resources for people wanting to learn how to use the algebra for real, as all the code learnt in this audio book is typically included in data science packages.
