Summary

Emily McPhee has struggled to overcome her father's death....

It's not easy, but Emily finally has the life she wants. She's an A student at Orange University and has a comfortable home and a great circle of friends. She's also in love with handsome Orange PD officer Seth Connors. He doesn't seem to return her feelings, though, so she tells herself his friendship is enough.

Jimmy Lasko is a psychopath, and Emily is his greatest obsession....

Lasko knows what he wants - what he deserves - and has the deadly skills and unending patience to get it. What he wants is Emily, and he is watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. That time is coming soon; he'll make sure of it.

A sense of unease settles on Emily, but is the danger real or imagined?

When Emily begins hearing noises and suspects someone has been in her house, Seth urges her to get a roommate. But after a search, she realizes a certain attractive cop would be the perfect choice, and Seth moves in.

Seth loves Emily, but fears his feelings might make it difficult to protect her.

In all areas of his life, Seth sees himself as a protector. He's determined to keep Emily safe, but he pushes the captivating blonde away in an attempt to stay objective. However, after her stalker makes a failed attempt to capture her, Seth can no longer deny his feelings.

With help from Seth's police colleagues, he and Emily set out to identify the person hunting her before it's too late. But is it worth the risk to bait the trap with what he wants most?

CAPTIVATING STORY; PAINFUL NARRATION!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

A new narrator. This narrator is painfully monotone.

What did you like best about this story?

This is the third series by J. L. Drake, and it's just as captivating as the first two--Broken Series and Blackstone Series.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

This is one of the most monotone narrations I have ever heard. These books deserve much better narration.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes

Books great, narration flat.

I want to start out saying that I am a big fan of J.L. Drake's books. I have read both series. Five stars for the books. They are well worth reading. I was looking forward to getting them on audio, but when I started listening to Darkness Lurks , I was very disappointed in the narrator. She lacks emotion. I could have turned on my Kindle's electronic reading and almost got as much emotion. Someone is stocking the heroine and you would have thought the narrator was telling you what she had for dinner. It had that much felling. I would have given the narrator a one star but I could not do that to the stories themselves, they are great.

overall good but narrator monotone

Good book but narrator was not the best. She has a very monotone voice. The girl should sound like a girl. I had to take a break from the book

Not enough psycho!

I struggled to finish this because the most interesting character only had 'vignettes'. Disappointing indeed.

Book good- Narrator Bad

The narrator does not work wuth the book she sounds like a robot... no change in tempo, feeling or voice for the other characters.... but if you can get past this... the book is very interesting..... I would advise to read it rather than the audiobook due to this narrator

One of the WORST narrators!!

The story - 4 stars
The narrator - 1/2 star.
The narrator sounded mechanical. Tia Sorensen sounds as if she is just trying to rush through the story. There are multiple POVs in this book. Her ‘voice’ does not does not change for Seth, Emily, or the stalker. I am not sure if the narrator only took the job to pay her rent that month. It feels as if she hates narrating and is doing it to only to pay some bills. Does someone from the publishing world owe this narrator a favor, because she is awful!! It is a shame that the company hired Tia Sorensen to narrate this story. One of the worst narrators I have ever listened too. She ruined the story. The author should note this for the future!! Interesting

This so far is a very interesting story. Not that Tia Sorensen did a bad job on narrating but this would be so much better if there was more than one narrator. I had a hard time keeping up who was talking.
