Summary

Emily McPhee has struggled to overcome her father's death....

It's not easy, but Emily finally has the life she wants. She's an A student at Orange University and has a comfortable home and a great circle of friends. She's also in love with handsome Orange PD officer Seth Connors. He doesn't seem to return her feelings, though, so she tells herself his friendship is enough.

Jimmy Lasko is a psychopath, and Emily is his greatest obsession....

Lasko knows what he wants - what he deserves - and has the deadly skills and unending patience to get it. What he wants is Emily, and he is watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. That time is coming soon; he'll make sure of it.

A sense of unease settles on Emily, but is the danger real or imagined?

When Emily begins hearing noises and suspects someone has been in her house, Seth urges her to get a roommate. But after a search, she realizes a certain attractive cop would be the perfect choice, and Seth moves in.

Seth loves Emily, but fears his feelings might make it difficult to protect her.

In all areas of his life, Seth sees himself as a protector. He's determined to keep Emily safe, but he pushes the captivating blonde away in an attempt to stay objective. However, after her stalker makes a failed attempt to capture her, Seth can no longer deny his feelings.

With help from Seth's police colleagues, he and Emily set out to identify the person hunting her before it's too late. But is it worth the risk to bait the trap with what he wants most?

CAPTIVATING STORY; PAINFUL NARRATION!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

A new narrator. This narrator is painfully monotone.

What did you like best about this story?

This is the third series by J. L. Drake, and it's just as captivating as the first two--Broken Series and Blackstone Series.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

This is one of the most monotone narrations I have ever heard. These books deserve much better narration.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes

Books great, narration flat.

I want to start out saying that I am a big fan of J.L. Drake's books. I have read both series. Five stars for the books. They are well worth reading. I was looking forward to getting them on audio, but when I started listening to Darkness Lurks , I was very disappointed in the narrator. She lacks emotion. I could have turned on my Kindle's electronic reading and almost got as much emotion. Someone is stocking the heroine and you would have thought the narrator was telling you what she had for dinner. It had that much felling. I would have given the narrator a one star but I could not do that to the stories themselves, they are great.

overall good but narrator monotone

Good book but narrator was not the best. She has a very monotone voice. The girl should sound like a girl. I had to take a break from the book

NARRATOR NIGHTMARE!!

ugh!! I absolutely hate that author's or production people do not ensure a narrator is good. Tia Sorenson ruined this for me so much so that I did not finish nor do I care to finish the series. the story sounded promising but unfortunately the performance was some of the worst I've ever listened to. she has ZERO inflection in her voice so she sounds robotic. her audible intake of breath AT EVERY START of a new word became the only thing I could hear. ALL THE CHARACTERS were indistinguishable because she didn't make any of them sound differently with the exception of the males where she whispered, making the men sound like they were more feminine! Don't waste your time.

Bad narration

I couldn't get through more than a couple chapters. The narration was terrible. The male characters sounded like females and their wasn't much of a change between the voices between people.

DARKNESS LURKS : VOLUME 1 THIS

CREEPY BOOK SO FAR. I DON'T NORMALLY WATCH OR LISTEN TO THESE TYPE OF STORIES CAUSE THEY GIVE ME THE CREEPS BUT THIS ONE SNUNK UP ON ME AND PULLED ME IN SO NOW I HAVE TO FIND OUT WHO'S OUT TO GET EMILY. TIA SORENSEN ISN'T THAT GREAT OF A NARRATOR. SHE KIND OF JUST DRONES ON AND IS QUITE BORING TO LISTEN TO. SOMENARRATORS ALMOST ACT OUT THE STORY AS THEY ARE READING IT BUT TIA SORESEN READS IT WORD TO WORD IN A VERY DULL WAY. THE STORY IS GREAT. EMILY IS A POPULAR GIRL WHO LIVES BY HERSELF IN A 5 BEDROOM HOUSE THAT WAS LEFT TO HER BY HER DECEASED FATHER. SHE HAS LOADS OF FRIENDS AND MEN WHO WOULD LIKE TO DATE HER BUT HER INTEREST IS IN A SEAN WHO IS ALSO A COP.
