underworld adventure
Alexandria Clarke has written another excellent female driven adventure, this time taking us into the underworld, dropping us straight into the trouble and we find our way through at the same speed as our lead Morgan.
Morgan is strong and warm and willing to face all the darkness to help save the people she cares about. The story and action are fast paced and enjoyable.
Jo Nelson is a great narrator, I really enjoyed her presentation of the characters in the story.

Journey Through the Underworld
This is the third book in the Witch Myth Yew Hollow series. In this installment, Morgan Summers, Yew Hollow’s intrepid ghost whisperer has landed in the otherworld. She discovers that she is needed back in the real world to save her coven and the town of Yew Hollow so she embarks on a journey to find her way back home. As she travels through the levels of the afterworld with her father and ancestor she meets challenges and plots to stop the evil wizard bent on destroying her town.
This was and interesting story but I was not really invested in it like I was with the other books in the series. First of all, this book started abruptly with Morgan showing up in the otherworld. It referenced events that happened before current book started and it is difficult to determine if these were recounted in a previous book or was just being recounted in this story. I found this book hard to follow and I was frustrated that it seemed out of context, especially given what I knew about previous books in this series.
Overall, this is a cute cozy mystery series but it is very disjointed and the title of the books all being the same drives me absolutely mad trying to sort them out and figure out what order they are actually in. The fact they are listed differently in various settings contributes to the confusion. I really want to like and enjoy this series, but the confusion around it is almost unbearable and is totally avoidable. I felt like the author had the opportunity to really flush out this world but ended up keeping things short. Theses books are really more novella length at about 2 ½ - 3 hours. There was so much opportunity to expand and build on this interesting world.
Jo Nelson is a delightful narrator. She is easy to listen to and voices the characters well. The only real complaint I have is that her voice is not really a fit for the story. She has a pronounced British accent that is not appropriate for characters set in Maine.
If you are looking for a cute cozy paranormal mystery, this series is for you, just be prepared to enjoy each book independent of the others.
