Summary

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.

Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost's daughter, Santa Claus' niece, heir to the Winter Throne, and now private investigator. Sort of.

When Lark Bramble, an old frenemy, shows up in Nocturne Falls, Jayne finds herself reliving the painful past and trying to make responsible decisions that won’t mess up her future. But being an adult proves harder than she thought.

Finally at peace with where things stand between her and Lark, Jayne thinks everything’s cool until a chilling event at the Black and Orange Ball shatters that peace and puts Jayne at odds with the powers that be. She knows she’s on thin ice, but she’s determined to crack the caper.

Can Jayne find a way to right the wrongs she might have caused, or will she forever bear the guilt of allowing herself to be snowed again?

Excellent!

Loved this book, although parts were bittersweet, like with Cooper getting bad news about his mum and he and Jayne breaking up (even if he said it was just temporary) because I still kind of like him and Jayne as a couple. Wasn't as sad about Greyson and Jayne though because as much as I love Greyson (and I do!) I never really saw him and Jayne as a couple, I think it shows in this book giving how different his and Coopers reasons for leaving town and missing the Black & Orange ball were.
I really like Sin although I'm reserving judgement for a book or too as he kind of seems a little too good to be true! So far though he does actually seem well matched to Jayne and she seems to have fallen quite hard for him already! I feel bad for Cooper though, if he and Jayne aren't going to be together as a couple, I hope he finds his perfect match as well, Greyson too!
Wasn't too surprised about Lark though, although she put on a good show for Jayne.
Can't wait for the next book!

Another Excellent Jayne Frost Mystery.

This series continues to delight and entertain. It's much my preferred form of Nocturne Falls fix, so long may it continue.

FULL OF WONDER, SUSPENSE AND LOTS OF SURPRISES

Wow, Kristen does it again! There was a lot of suspense, Wonder, and big surprises. I never saw that coming. I had to just sit back and stair off into space and think about everything. This is a book that stays with you a long time after reading/listening. In fact, it will be with me forever. I can’t go into details without spoilers so I better not say any more. There is a surprise that I didn’t see coming in a million years.

The narration was great. I’m not that crazy about the voice of Jayne. I think because it sounds like a lady I go to church with lol. But it wasn’t bad either. The narrator is very talented and can do any female voice and male voices. It sounds like so many differen5 characters talking you never once second guess it.

This is the end

I was hoping that the books would improve, but sadly that hasn't happened. Love the premise, but not the execution.

I LOVE JANE

AT FIRST THE CHANGE IN VOICES CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD BUT IT BLENDED RIGHT IN. AS NORMAL JANE DID NOT DISAPPOINT. FAST FUNNY EASY. DID NOT WANT IT TO END. I GUESSED WHO THE CRIMINAL WAS BUT THE SLIGHT TWIST WAS GOOD.

Loved it (like always)!

My absolute favorite book by far. Yes, I know... I say that every time, but this time I mean it! (OK, I say that every time too, but it's not my fault Kristin Painter outdoes herself with every book.)
Don't expect Jayne's life to get any easier in book 4. Her college bestie turned enemy, Lark, is back to make amends, or is she? She couldn't be trusted before, can a snow leopard really change it's spots? To make matters worse, Lark is set to DJ the biggest bash in Nocturne Falls, the Black and Orange Ball, where Elenora Ellingham is planning to debut her new diamond the Heart of Dawn. What could go wrong? Oh yeah, did I mention the new guy in Jayne's life? Sinclair (Sin) Crowe, the owner of Zombie Donuts (could he be a better match for an elf that practically lives on sweets?), will be escorting her to the ball and wants to throw his hat into the dating ring. Yelping Yetis, does Jayne have a lot on her plate!

Great Series!

This is a great book; this book is the fourth book in the Jayne Frost series written by Kristen Painter and narrated by Hollis McCarthy. This book can be listened to as a standalone but you will want to listen to them all. Jayne Frost lives in Nocturne Falls, the town celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. Jayne is a winter elf, Jack Frost’s daughter and Santa Claus’s niece. Jayne is shocked when she sees Lark Bramble, her old frenemy show up in Nocturne Falls. Finally at peace with where things stand between her and Lark, Jayne thinks everything’s cool until a chilling event at the Black and Orange Ball shatters that peace and puts Jayne at odds with the powers that be. She knows she’s on thin ice, but she’s determined to crack the caper. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. The narrator did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.
