Publisher's Summary

Washington, DC: Twin brothers are found drowned in a Perspex box, one gagged and strapped to a chair. It's the latest in a series of cruel and elaborate murders with two things in common: the killer has left a family history chart at each crime scene, and the victims all have a connection to genealogical sleuth Jefferson Tayte.

Hoping his insight and expertise will help solve the case, the FBI summon Tayte back to the capital. But as he struggles to crack the clues, the killer strikes again - and again. Tayte is known as the best in the business, but this time he's up against a genealogical mastermind who always seems to be one step ahead.

With the clock ticking and the body count rising, Tayte finds himself racked with guilt, his reputation and career in tatters. The killer is running rings around him; is it only a matter of time before he comes for the ultimate target?

This is the sixth book in the Jefferson Tayte Genealogical Mystery series, but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story.

    "A brilliant read."

This is the sixth book in the Jefferson Tayte saga it is also the best. The plot is fascinating. It is impossible to guess the next twist and there are lots o twists that enforce you to carry on reading just one more chapter. JT is such a good character that I hope the author will continue to write about him. Great stuff, Steve?

    "Fast pace and entertaining"

What I like is a book that sucks you in right from the start. It is all go and keeps moving. Its so refreshing to read - in this case listen - to something that has such a different plot to most who dunnits.

    "Do the obvious thing"

I've enjoyed listening to this series, JT is an affable guy, and maybe that's part of the problem. With this last book there seems to be a lot of carnage without the corresponding angst. More than once the plot seemed to be more contrived to show off genealogy techniques than to save a life. And, more than once, I found myself wondering why on earth they didn't just do the obvious thing. Still, it's a fun read (listen) and I'm sure I'll buy into the next book when it comes out.

    "Disappointing"

Where do I start? I've loved this series until this wretched plot showed up in this book. It reminded me of the FBI series called Criminal Minds in which week after week we get a brilliant serial killer who outwits law enforcement, graphically kills victim after victim until finally caught. This is what happens to Tate. Any normal person would be scarred for life - even with years of therapy - or he would have suicided early on. In any case please let this series go back to the flavor it had in the earlier books or I will not continue with them.

"Riveting story full of surprises and suspense"

Stands on its own but the series is best enjoyed in order. Great story and as always Simon Vance's narration is stellar, including dialects, subtlety, and professionalism.

we listen to books as we travel long distances. Jefferson Tayte stories are great. we don't have to worry who is in the car and we all love the suspense.

"Great new book in the series"

I've read or listened to all of Steve Robinson's books on genealogical crime and loved them all. This one was no different and even had us looking at the mystery in a new way than usual. I loved my long commute when I listened to the book! Not a dull chapter to be found. Also, The narrator, Simon Vance, has the perfect voice for these books!

    "Another Winner!!"

I've read all of Steve Robinson's book and I have enjoyed every single one of them! I was looking forward to "Dying Games" and I was not disappointed. Jefferson Tayte is a character that is ordinary and yet extraordinary at the same time. I'm looking forward to each new novel. Simon Vance also does and excellent job as narrator!!
