Story
Orson Reid: college freshman, gamer, and quite possibly the legendary boogeyman of the magical world. And you thought your life was weird. It all started the night Orson kissed his best friend, Elyse, and she kissed him back. Yes, the kiss was life changing, but in ways Orson never could have imagined. It seems he contracted a "virus" that is making him taller, faster, and stronger. Story
Savid DelaCrotia is the third born son of one of the Kingdom of Montshire’s oldest and most respected High families. Cast aside by his father at an early age, it’s up to him to make his own way and create his own honor. With just his horse, his weapons, the clothes on his back and in his pack, and the education that his family provided, he’ll have to go it alone. Luckily, he already has a pretty good idea of what he’s good at - fighting, and woodcraft - not to mention finding hidden and lost items.

Story
Before the now-infamous Count Dracula ever tasted his first drop of blood, Sorin Ambrogio owned the night. Humanity fearfully called him the Devil. Cursed by the gods, Sorin spent centuries bathing Europe in oceans of blood with his best friends, Lucian and Nero, the world’s first Werewolf and Warlock - an unholy trinity if there ever was one. Until the three monsters grew weary of the carnage, choosing to leave it all behind and visit the brave New World across the ocean. As they befriended a Native American tribe, they quickly forgot that monsters can never escape their past.

Story
Reports to write, forms to fill, coffee to drink, leads to run down. Gus’s life was a tedium and boredom he’d grown comfortable with. One that he sought out after he’d come back from his tour of duty. A detective in the paranormal investigations department. A job he could work day in and day out in relative peace. One cold and forgotten cup of coffee at a time. It was an environment that made some sense to him. At least in comparison to civilian life where almost nothing did. On top of that, it gave him a chance to hide what he was from the rest of the world.

Let's go back to the night I turned 13, the night Grandpa filleted my finger with his cane sword. I can't say what terrified me more, the cold anger in his eyes or the crazy things in his locked study. A talking trunk. Squirming coats. A bookshelf whose titles shifted before my eyes. And one chilling title in particular: Book of Souls. Ten years later I'm on my way to a Romanian monastery, in search of that lost book. But I'm not the only one. Three others have beaten me to the local village: two researchers and...

Summary
Book 8 of the Demon Accords.
College. A time of transition from youth to young adulthood. New lessons, new responsibilities, new distractions. A period of life treasured by most. Unless you happen to attend an institute of higher learning where the bullies are werewolves, the teachers are sadists, and the pretty girls are all deadly. A school like that demands a special kind of student, someone with the skills and power to survive. Someone like Declan O'Carroll.

small steps some character development
the last book had some pacing issues. this one improves but then disappoints with forced character changed that seem entirely avoidable and just seem pre planned for future books. this feels like character derail. the plot is great and fleshes out the world a lot more but this feels like more of a world building / exposition novel. overall an entertaining story that wasnt as satisfying as previous entries. -spoiler- caeco and declan split up and it feels off. the rationale at the end (age etc) makes sense and the other girls vying for attention makes sense but i enjoy the chemistry between D and C. so it feels strangely forced considerin it gets swept under the rug in the last chapter. the plot obstacles seem rushed and even though resolution could probably be reached it isnt shown in the text leaving it feeling arbitrary a scene showing them discussing things or going over it all could have at least given a more satisfying (for the reader) sense of closure. this is a personal take - it just bothered me and overshadowed the rest of an otherwise entertaining book.

Accents
The narrator really needs to meet some Irish people. His accent in this is appalling and ruined large parts of the story for me. Knowing from the last chapter that there is an Australian character in the next book for him to mangle is not filling me with anticipation in listening to it.

A great story that keeps you interested
What made the experience of listening to College Arcane the most enjoyable?
I liked the part where they played with the golems.
What other book might you compare College Arcane to and why?
I have listened to the whole series and wish they had the last one available
Have you listened to any of James Patrick Cronin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I must hand it to Mr Cronin he does a truely professional job by bringing all the characters to life and I will look forward to more of his works
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Many, both happy and sad the feelings of each lose and the joy of small victories made a very good book
Any additional comments?
Please don't stop writing these books, Well put together story lines and great performances from the reader.

Enthralling - this 1 got me hooked on John Conroe
I found this book very exciting. I found the character is very interesting, and the dialogue was very well written. James Patrick Cronin was definitely a good narrator. And I am looking for more books that he has narrated.
I like some sci-fi and fantasy, but find that some are just too bizarre. Conroe writes a very good book without getting too weird!

One of the best books I have read!
I was at first like others who started this book. I was unsure whether I would enjoy a book that did not totally focus on Chris and Tanya. It was a great storyline. The ever expanding world of Chris and Tanya is memorizing. Each book has fresh ideas and new storytelling that ultimately lead to Chris and Tanya. I am already getting worried because there are only a few more books in the series. One of my favorite things about reading is when I can immerse myself in a series where the characters and storylines are rich and provide the much needed diversion from life that I seek. Hopefully, more stories are in the works.

Pleasant surprise
I was a little irritated when I got the 1st book Declan was featured in. I thought it would be more of the adventures of the God Hammer. But after listening to it, and this book, I find I enjoy the adventures of young Declan a little bit more than Chris & Tania. So far, a very pleasant surprise!
