Until this year, I never really thought about retirement (but it is steadily getting closer!) I'm glad I listened to this book because it has made me think of retirement in a way I never have, like making me consider what I will want to do when I retire and how it is different from my current lifestyle and how to actually DO what I want to at that point. The author brings up a lot of points for consideration in order to make retirement be what you want.

I thought this would mainly be about managing free time, but it covered much more than that. The discussions around purpose, health, and relationships were probably my favorite parts. The narrator kept my attention and the content was easy to follow. Even though I'm not fully retired yet, I found several takeaways that apply to my life right now. I'd happily recommend it to friends and family.

I like how it reframes retirement as something that continues rather than something that ends. Instead of treating it like a stop in life, it presents it as a shift into a different kind of rhythm.. one that still needs meaning, direction, and intention. What I find valuable is the focus on rebuilding structure after leaving a career, because that transition can feel surprisingly empty if it’s not guided. It also highlights how important it is to replace old routines with new ones that still give a sense of identity and purpose. It made me realize that without intentional choices, freedom can sometimes feel more confusing than expected.

I enjoyed the book’s reminder that retirement can be a meaningful new beginning. The idea of retiring to something instead of from something stayed with me. It made me feel optimistic about future possibilities and more intentional about what matters most. I would recommend it to anyone preparing for this stage of life.
