Summary

Amanda Graham inherited a rundown bed and breakfast, a starving cat, and some dead guy who's buried in her garden!

What should've been a simple remodeling project and a new business in a small Oregon beach town winds up with her uncle named as the number-one murder suspect, a slew of odd neighbors and problematic townspeople, and Amanda wanting to just sit down and eat her weight in chocolate pie.

Sure, she could pack her bags and travel back to LA...or should she dig in, heal from her failed romance, and find a whole new set of friends and adventures in Ravenwood Cove?

And how could a quiet little coastal village have so many secrets?

A five star story

This is an extremely well written and compelling story with lovable, believable characters. While the narrator has quite a strong American accent, it wasn't unlistenable, in fact I listened to the whole thing in one sitting. The dropped 🌟 on my scoring was for the sound tech, as the voice was very tinny at times. However, don't let this put you off because you'll be missing out on a great tail 😻👍

Loved it!

Mystery enough to keep me intrigued, interesting characters enough to keep me interested and cozy enough to count as truth-in-advertising. I loved this book enough to buy the next two in the series within minutes of finishing this one.

Cute First Mystery But Reader Was Poor

If you could sum up Bed, Breakfast, and Bones in three words, what would they be?

A cute first mystery with lots of potential for the series

How could the performance have been better?

The performance was horrible. It took all I had to hang in with this book. I'm usually not that choosy but this was not at all professional. It was like having a friend read out loud from a book. Please check the sample BEFORE buying. I had bought the book first and just added the audible portion without checking first. If this is the reader for the series, I won't be continuing.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If it wasn't for the reader, I could have easily listened all in one sitting.

Made myself finish this

The story wasn't great but the narrator was awful. Her fake laughter in her voice whenever anything remotely2amusing was read was so annoying. Would not recommend.

Good book; Need a professional reader/narrator.

Loved the characters and story.
PLEASE get another reader without the harsh, flat accent and voice. It's not a professional voice for narration.

Loved the story. The Reader was okay.

I enjoyed the story and I'm looking forward to the next book. Just the reader could have been a little better but not the worst I've heard.

Cute story.

Not bad , not earthshattering.
A cute cozy story and i guess the setting in a coastal town makes it better than perhaps the story itself really is.

So much potential . . . .

Ok, I have to start out and say, like many of the other reviews, I had trouble with the narrator. I did not enjoy her reading style, it was difficult to listen too. I felt it lacked emotion or depth and was very bland. I feel I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if it had a better narrator, or even if I read it myself.

The book itself had so much potential, but fell just a little short. Overall I enjoyed the book. I loved the main character, Amanda, who has no family left but has inherited a large old country home that used to serve as in Inn for a quaint little Oregon seaside town. She has some spunk and despite the constant setbacks she encounters is determined to make a go of it - getting the long abandoned Inn up and running. In the process she helps the whole sleepy community, which is struggling financially to keep stores open. Her ideas help increase tourism and perk up the little downtown - giving the residents and store owners a boost and new hope.

The town was quaint and we met LOTS of people. Unfortunately many of them weren't fleshed out very well, even the ones who become her good friends. Due to that, and the narrator not being able to differentiate the many voices - I had a great deal of difficulty keeping them straight and remembering who was who.

I am honestly torn over getting the next book in the series. I'm leaning toward just getting the book and reading it myself to see if the writing improves and gets better as the series goes on. I don't think I will be listening to the next book. I can't make myself use a credit for this narrator.
