About this listen

New York, 1931. The manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited by law, but behind this prohibition, organized crime flourishes-so, too, do bank robbers, bootleggers, assassins, and homunculi. Some want money, some are chasing the secret to immortality, and others just want to have a really good time. You know what they say, though: You can't always get what you want. This audiobook is a fantastic introduction for new fans into the wonderful world of Baccano, as well as being a real treat for long time fans of the franchise. The narrator here does a brilliant job of bringing the colourful cast of Baccano to life through his expressive impressions of all the characters and his dedication to giving each of them a unique and distinct voice that makes them stand out from one another well and enhances the humour of the novel wonderfully.

The story of Baccano is incredibly well suited to audio, and it was an absolute treat to see such a lively novel be adapted with so much passion. If you enjoy stories with large, expansive casts, are a fan of mafia-related media, or just want to spend 6 hours become lost in a rich world of bizarre happenings where every coincidence sets a new series of impossible shenanigans in motion, definitely give this audiobook a listen - I promise you won't regret it!
