Time's running out for The Tobacco Girls in this penultimate books in this bestselling series from Lizzie Lane.

War is fleeting, but true love last forever...

May 1944

Hope and excitement is in the air when news breaks of the allied forces landing in Normandy. D Day has arrived. However, the day-to-day struggles for the Tobacco Girls continue.

Carole Thomas wants her old life back. She is burdened with the guilt of being a young single mother and considers having baby Paula adopted, but Maisie Miles will do anything to stop her.

Phyllis Mason having found the love of her life is getting married in Malta to Mick Fairbrother, but will the dangerous legacies of war plague her happy day?

Bridget O’Neill finds herself posted to one of the hospitals receiving the injured from the D-Day landing beaches. Her most fervent hope is that her husband, Lyndon, does not become one of them.

Peace is on the horizon, but will their wishes and dreams win through and bring them a happy ever after?

An atmospheric historical saga following the lives and loves of those who work in Bristol’s famous Tobacco Factory.

Perfect for fans of Rosie Clarke, Fenella J Miller and Tracy Baines.

I've listened to all the Tobacco Girls books now and the girls and the other characters have become my extended family, just a brilliant writer, the 5th book is just as good as the other 4. following the lives of these families is addictive and I'm sad that this book is over so soon.... could not leave it, as usual Anne Dover gives her all as the narrator.
I fully recommend all 5 books and the good news is that there will be more in the series.
Thanks Lizzie Lane 🥰

What a lovely story it takes you back in time and is quite emotional at times, great story and narration, will be getting the next in the series to finish off the story.
My parents were born and lived through the war and the same ages as the characters and it gives a great insight into what they all had to endure.

Love this series!

Lizzie Lane is a master of story telling. The minute I start her books I can't stop listening. Including this one. In this case it was nice to find out what's happening to the characters towards the end of the war. It's written telling each story in a cohesive way. These books always take me away. I live in Bristol and work at the tobacco company as it is now... I just love these references to the old.

Gripped as always

I really enjoy the stories of the “3 M’s” but the narrator makes them sound like a bunch of octogenarians!

Easy listening

The protagonists in the story are just lovely, although perhaps sometimes too good to be true.

I love the characters
