When the body of a renowned British archeologist is found inside a sarcophagus he was bringing back from a dig in Egypt, Redmond and Haze must determine who aboard the Sea Witch had reason to want him dead. The method of murder suggests it was someone familiar with the funerary rites of the Ancient Egyptians, casting suspicion on members of the expedition, but there were others aboard the vessel who might have harbored a grudge against Blake Upton for reasons unconnected to the dig.

Confronted with professional jealousy, affairs of the heart, simmering resentment, and corrosive blame, Redmond and Haze must solve the case before the killer strikes again.

Perfect for fans of C.S. Harris and Anne Perry.

I love this series . So well researched, you can find yourself in Victorian London. Fascinating and intricate plots, and a writing style that invites you to explore the character, loves and lives of Jason Redmond and Daniel Haze , as well as the crimes they are solving , a convincing performance with a great range of voices from Wendy Wolfson.

I love this series

Good book but not as good as the others I’ve read in this series. Looking forward to book 8.

I have really enjoyed listening to this intriguing story from this series. The author, characters and narrator were great as usual.

Yet another great listening experience.

I appreciate the series and value the fact that it is freely available. The dynamic between the English and American male leads is engaging, and the contrast in their personalities has clear potential. However, the narrative appears to favour the American character, which at times leaves the English counterpart portrayed as overly naïve and immature, compounded by the storyline of his deteriorating marriage.

Conversely, the American character is presented as having an idealised domestic life, which feels somewhat unrealistic given that his wife is not developed in meaningful depth as a character. Their relationship, too, would benefit from greater nuance and exploration to enhance its credibility.

Enjoyed it though less than usual
