The Bands of Mourning are the mythical metal minds once owned by the Lord Ruler, said to grant anyone who wears them the same powers that the Lord Ruler had at his command.

Hardly anyone thinks they really exist.

This is my favorite novel of the second Mistborn series so far, and I am eagerly anticipating the next.
The story starts with a very steampunk feel, turns into a Western, then into a political thriller, before shifting into the type of adventure Allan Quatermain would kill to be involved in. This book really brings out how the author can play with genres and stereotypes to create something where there is great gravity to the underlying narrative, but it doesn't stop it being a darn good romp and a thrilling adventure.
multiple twists and turns await you inThe Bands of Mourning and they are just as shocking. Sanderson plays another ace and leaves us with no doubt he'll play a few more in 2017's conclusion.

loved mistborn (first trilogy) and never actually knew there was another 😲 so pleasent surprise on my part. These stories are different, time has moved on and is in a strange time frame, which suits the story and characters because of this the charactor relationships are well written and there is a lovableness that comes from even the lest written about charactor.

very enjoyable story

A great follow up from the previous mist born stories, definitely worth listening to! My only wish is the books lasted longer! I can't get enough of the lore, the character development nor the general world built up in these books!

Amazing book

I thoroughly enjoyed the 'Bands of Mourning' - a particularly delightful aspect us brought by the narrator's skill of varying Wayne's accents superbly.
nevertheless, this series isn't quite hitting the spot for me as the previous ones, as I preferred the setting in the earlier parts (this comes too close to 'our world of the 19century)....

great book, fab narration, even if ...

Here's me panicking thinking the Mistborn series was over but my word... Brandon is a fantastic writer.

I feel Wayne, Sterris and Marasi's character development was highly favoured in this book and well executed. Wayne has easily become my favourite character and was glad to see more sides to his complex bravado that first meets the eye.

I love that even after six books, Brandon is looking for new ways to expand the Mistborn universe, yet still make everything feel genuine to the original setting and lore around Allomanchy, the world history and the original protagonists stories.

Epic Epilogue!!!!!

I get to see a different side of all the characters and in different part of the world. Adds nicely to the first two volumes

A nice adventure exploring a different part of the mistborn world
