About this listen

When historian Jaya Jones receives a mysterious package containing a jewel-encrusted artifact, she discovers the secrets of a lost Indian treasure may be hidden in a Scottish legend. But she's not the only one on the trail.

From San Francisco to the Highlands of Scotland, Jaya must evade a shadowy stalker, as she follows hints from the hastily scrawled note to a remote archaeological dig. Helping her decipher the cryptic clues are her magician best friend, a devastatingly handsome art historian with something to hide, and a charming archaeologist running for his life. When a member of the dig's crew is murdered, Jaya must figure out which of the scholars vying for her affections might be the love of her life - and which one is a killer.

The story was good. Unfortunately, being British, the attempt at the accents of the Scottish and English characters was hilariously bad.

Good book, but

Both the story and the reading are alright, although, one can feel (by listening/reading) to other Gigi' books how the author's has grown over the years and the books evolved and mature with their (Gigi) writing. This is my sixth of their books I've read, and while, 'The Artifact', it keeps you entertained, it feels cringey at times (or perhaps I'm getting old) as it is a bit juvenil. Perhaps the book itself has the narrative differently and is the audio version? Nonetheless, the idea for the story is nice and the plot too, perhaps just the development is a bit off.

This is a great story but performance was full of terrible attempts at British accents with mispronunciations. You have to ignore them to enjoy the actual story.

Good read

the sroy is easy to listen to, and is ok but rhe Scottish accents and language are terrible and off-putting.

easy listening but accents are really bad

Good narrator but could really have done with a bit dialect training to get the Scot’s accent a little more stable.

A Zoe Faust inversion. But not a criticism.
