An incredible story, deftly told
This podcast tells the extraordinary story of Kris Maharaj, a British man sentenced to death for a double murder he didn't commit. Kris' story is pretty much the definition of the word clusterfuck - everything that can go wrong, does!
Narrators Sonya Pfeiffer and David Rudolf bring clarity to a complex tale. They cast a legal eye over proceedings, examining the evidence that tells a very different story to the prosecution at Kris' trial. As with any good murder mystery, the listener is encouraged to look beneath the surface. The Moo Youngs' briefcase operates as a kind of Pandora's box and takes us down a rabbit of hole all sorts of cartel shenanigans.
Framed by the police and screwed over by a US justice system that doesn't seem to care if you are innocent as long as they have someone for the crime, Kris' story is a gross miscarriage of justice. Nobody wants to admit they got it wrong.
This would be a hopeless story if it wasn't for the strength and determination of Kris, his wife Marita - both 82 - and his lawyers, notably Clive Stafford Smith, who has been representing Kris pro bono for 28 years. Clive now represents Kris through 3DC.org.uk (not Reprieve).

Interesting
Liked this podcast and unlike others of its kind has lots of original information in each episode rather than constant recaps. Also raising such an important issue and the profile of cases.

Compelling account of misjustice
Excellent coverage of such a sad case, David Rudolf and Sonya Pfeiffer ensure readers are following each twist and turn and constantly clarify law rules so everyone can follow this sad case. Admiration for all involved in this case who continue to be persistent in bringing justice for Kris and admiration for highliting the abuse of the system with all publications of abuse of power.

This left me so angry.
Compelling listening. A terrifying account of how broken the US legal system is and the peril of being wrongly accused of a capital crime in America. The story is about what I am pursuaded is a certain miscarriage of justice but what should be on trial here are the US judiciary and the system they nourish. After 30 years I can't help thinking that there are just too many people who would be in serious trouble for them EVER to admit they made a mistake. I was so frustrated by the end I wanted to scream. Instead I went and made a donation to Reprieve. I don't think anything short of a Presidential pardon can save Kris Mahraj now.

What an incredible and sad story
This is a must for anyone that likes true crime stories. One of the "best" ones out there. I say best in quotes because its very captivating but also frustrating because of the injustice that it describes. Honestly, more poeole should hear this story. It is about a man in a wrong place and time fighting for his life against party corrupt, partly indifferent USA meatgrinder of a justice system.

TOTAL DISBELIEF!
I trully can't get my mind around this podcast, it's beyond understanding.
How can the American juridical system allow this frail man & woman to live like this.
Even with all the evidence saying he's innocent, still they won't free him.
It's not a new trial he needs it's opening the gates & letting him live the rest of his life with his wife & whatever little dog they get.
In my opinion it's just all these judges etc., don't want egg on their faces, you could see with his first lawyer, somebody had got to him.
I fully agree, a world wide film is needed.
where's Stephen Spielberg when you need him.
