Summary

Taimin and Selena must discover the truth about their world - before it’s too late.

In a world of secrets, Taimin and Selena are desperate for answers. They need to discover the truth about their origins and the firewall that borders the wasteland. If they don’t find the hidden path they seek, the citizens of Zorn will die.

As they make the perilous journey to the distant firewall, Taimin and Selena are joined by three companions: a young healer, a weapons trader, and an old rover. Together the five are in constant danger, unable to rely on Selena’s powers as she has lost the ability to farcast - and she doesn’t know how to get it back.

Now Taimin finds himself hunted by a new enemy - a strange creature on a bloodthirsty quest of his own. Taimin and Selena get ever closer to the answers that are essential to their survival. But will they learn the truth in time to save themselves?

Critic reviews

“Master narrator Simon Vance performs the second entry in The Firewall Trilogy.... Vance gives each character a subtly different voice—except for the monstrous creatures Taimin crosses path with. His narration will engage new and returning listeners alike as the plot races toward revealing the answers Taimin seeks. Vance elevates the story with a captivating performance that features heart and humor amid the darkness.” - Audiofile Magazine

Disappointed

Possible this story could have been told in half the pages. It seemed to take a long time to say little. Far more happened in the first book.

Fast Action

The journey to the land of “milk and honey” brings with it a number of different surprises. What waits ahead of them after they brought down the firewall may be more than they can face and continue to survive. The 5 races are now brought together by their mutual threat to their own survival!

Wow!

The adventure continues. Not as grand as the first book but, wonderful nevertheless. Great world building. The narrator made this world spectacular and real. I've got to purchase the third installment.

A long read but worth it

This book took me longer than the first book to finish. It's not that it was bad or anything just sometimes I felt like it dragged. However, I did find it more entertaining than the first. I Like how the characters grew closer and figured out many things. The ending was quite good! I was expecting it after a while and was satisfied with it too. Sometimes it can draw on but it's not bad, I think it's definitely worth it. It's quite an adventure and the characters are chrismatic and likable. I do look forward to reading the third!

a must-read for sci-fi fans!

I absolutely loved this book! I listen to audiobooks while commuting to work or cleaning around the house and usually I switch between books because I struggle to maintain interest. BUT WITH THIS SERIES SO FAR!! I haven't switched once!!! even while at work I would try to find ways to listen (during lunch and 15minute walk around breaks!). I love the story and the characters! it's made me laugh and cry! a definite must read!!

Excellent story so far.

As always Mr. Maxwell gives us a well written story with characters that you want to root for and a mystery that slowly unravels at the perfect pace. I'm very much looking forward to the next installment of this series! The audio performance was superb and really sucks you into the story.

COWARDLY IGNORANT WRITTER!!!

This narrator is not meant to voice warriors. He is more fit to do grocery clerks and motherly nuns. Also this author, while it's a decent story, is never faced a death or survival fight against any creature that stands a chance at slaying a human adult. He writes like a submissive slave cowed by his masters back hand.
I have been to war and had people try to kill me. Once you have that experience, a warrior NEVER frets over using his enemies weaknesses against him! That is the price to when playing the game of life or death. A cowardly hero is no hero. Most heros never survive their act of heroism and die so others may live. They do not run away and leave others to die. They die so others can run.
