Summary

Surrounded by fire, a girl with mysterious powers and a young warrior search for safety.

Life in the wasteland is a constant struggle. No one knows it better than Taimin. Crippled, and with only his indomitable aunt to protect him, Taimin must learn to survive in a world scorched by two suns and frequented by raiders.

But when Taimin discovers his homestead ransacked and his aunt killed, he sets off with one mission: to seek revenge against those who stole everything. With nowhere to call home, his hunt soon takes a turn when he meets a mystic, Selena, who convinces him to join her search for the fabled white city. Taimin and Selena both need refuge, and the white city is a place where Taimin may find someone to heal his childhood injury.

As they avoid relentless danger, Taimin and Selena attempt to reach the one place that promises salvation. And they can only hope that the city is the haven they need it to be....

YA Book

Just another YA book with a ignorant MC, the setting is in the dark ages tech of a fantasy world. It's bad enough most YA are socially awkward, now the author takes it one step further than that, and he has been basically raised around no one, constantly verbally abused by some aunt and left to fend more on his own.

Nice clean yarn with suspense, drama, torture, humor and betrayals

This fantasy novel being a new universe to life. I enjoyed reading and listening to this tale with hardache, trials and tribulations but also showing that with enough effort, Good can overcome evil. This saga would make an interesting movie.

Little dragging but good.

I did enjoy this book. The story was right down my alley because I love sci-fi adventures. This world is full of mysterious creatures and beings and a truth that is hidden behind a firewall. honestly, the book was really enjoyable but it did drag at some points and was kind of boring at more points. It wasn't as action-packed as I would have liked. nevertheless, there were good characters and the narrator was a good listen. I would recommend it to any sci-fi reader and I can't wait for the next.

Didn't want my commute to end!

The story is well crafted, the characters are well developed, and I cannot wait to get the next one. I never wanted my commute to end and often ended up reading some after I got home. I also love the performance of the reader. He used so many different voices and accents. Even when I was reading it instead of listening, I still used his voices in my head. Great job!

FULL OF COWARDS & INCOMPETENT CHARACTERS

What is wrong with authors these days? They all write cowards and puzzles ad hero's and main charaters. They have heart and would rather live on their knees accepting a slaves safety than live free and provide their own freedom and liberty!! Has our society fallen so low that natural born cowards can not even properly dream up strong heros??? Wow, I am ashamed to be a human in today's world. You all are near worthless...

A fun fantasy romp

Really enjoyed this story. The narration was well paced though I’m just not crazy about the narrators attempt to change his voice for different characters. I will likely read the next book on kindle.

Great story teller.

James Maxwell is right up there with JK Rowling and Sara J Maas for me. And Simon Vance is one of the best narrators yet (I love Jim Dale too). The tenor of the story isn’t unlike The Evermen Saga but the story is fresh. Now to the second!
