A Horus Heresy Novel

Censured at the Council of Nikea for his flagrant use of sorcery, Magnus the Red and his Legion retreat to their homeworld to continue their use of the arcane arts in secret.

Listen to it because

One of the most tragic tales of the entire Horus Heresy unfolds as the Thousand Sons are brought low by their relentless quest for knowledge. Magnus is sure that he knows better than the Emperor – but isn't that what caused Horus to fall as well?

The story

Censured at the Council of Nikea for his flagrant use of sorcery, Magnus the Red and his Thousand Sons Legion retreat to their homeworld of Prospero to continue their use of the arcane arts in secret. When the ill-fated primarch foresees the treachery of Warmaster Horus and warns the Emperor with the very powers he was forbidden to use, the Master of Mankind dispatches fellow primarch Leman Russ to attack Prospero itself. But Magnus has seen more than the betrayal of Horus – and the witnessed revelations will change the fate of his fallen Legion, and its primarch, forever.

Another fantastic Horus Heresy novel! The thousand sons have become one of my favourite legions after listening to this!

Excellent story!

The start of this book belies the depth and intricacies of the storytelling, I would say the initial 3 hours are rather plodding but eventually it sets in on you that this is effectively the tale of a doomed legion led by a Primarch blind to his own weakness. Becomes a gripping read in the end.

Deceptive

The narrator really drags this fantastic book down. He injects no tone, rushes lines, injects commas and stops or pauses for breathe at utterly inappropriate moments. I had really looked forward to hearing about the thousand sons and the performance dimmed it for me.

Fantastic story, read the book instead of listening.

Fantastic book, Terribly narrated

The way this was read was really stilted with extremely strange and awkward phrasing. I had to drop the speed to x0.90 to make it palatable.

It's a shame because the tragedy of the Thousand Sons is really engaging.

Good story let down by performance
