The Emperor is enraged. Primarch Magnus the Red of the Thousand Sons Legion has made a terrible mistake that endangers the very safety of Terra. With no other choice, the Emperor charges Leman Russ, Primarch of the Space Wolves, with the apprehension of his brother from the Thousand Sons home world of Prospero.

This planet of sorcerers will not be easy to overcome, but Russ and his Space Wolves are not easily deterred. With wrath in his heart, Russ is determined to bring Magnus to justice and bring about the fall of Prospero.

Abnett is a giant in the arena of sci-fi writing with many great titles to his name and a unmatched ability to invest his stories with realism, mystery and suspense. In Prospero Burns he delivers yet again, lending his supreme talents to help bring greater depth and flavour to the wider background of the Horus Heresy and more specifically the sons of Russ.

As a fan of the Space Wolves this book was ideal for me but listener be warned, if you're looking for a jaunt that takes in Prospero and the sons of Magnus this is not the book for you. Instead you should look for book XII, A Thousand Sons by Graham McNeill, which covers the red king and his legion in great detail.

Happy listening!

Great background for any Space Wolves fan

Took a long time to develop. But hearing the tale of Prospero from the Wolves point of view was a brilliant spin, and truly tragic. Have loved the narration and the story. Recommended

Slow starting.

Probably one of my favourites in the Horus Heresy series, mainly because of Howser. He is such an amazing, likeable and relatable character, you can’t help but love him. The only quarrel I have is that at times it was a bit drawn out, but the story and the way I was able to immerse myself in it all but made up for it.

Amazing characters!

Really good book and story, wonderful insight to the wolfs, slightly let down by the repetition of phrase; won’t state which as you may not notice but as soon as you do it pulls the ear slightly. Either way still very good.

Again an excellent narration of another installment by Gareth Armstrong. At points the narration was the only element keeping me motivated as I felt at times the story detoured off on irrelevant tangents. However, a very strong finish, with a few good twists. Perseverance is key with this novel, it's worth the wait in the end.
