Story
A long time ago in the future, the secret of time travel became known to all. Everyone seized the opportunity - and the world nearly ended. There will always be idiots who want to change history. And so, the Time Police were formed. An all-powerful, international organisation tasked with keeping the timeline straight. At all costs. Their success is legendary, and the Time Wars are over. But now the Time Police must fight to save a very different future - their own. This is the story of Jane, Luke and Matthew - arguably the worst recruits in Time Police history....
Summary
The first time somebody tried to kill him was an accident.
The second time was deliberate.
Now Paul Mulchrone finds himself on the run with nobody to turn to except a nurse who has read one-too-many crime novels and a renegade copper with a penchant for violence. Together they must solve one of the most notorious crimes in Irish history.
Or else they’ll be history.
A Man with One of Those Faces is the first book in Caimh McDonnell's critically acclaimed Dublin Trilogy series, which melds fast-paced action with a distinctly Irish acerbic wit.
Critic reviews
"One of the funniest crime books you'll ever read." (The Express)
"A brilliant comedic thriller" (The Irish Post)
"It's just crying out to be made into a movie. The writing is whip-smart and funny." (Books Ireland Magazine)

Outstanding
First of all..I am a huge fan of the books. Genuinely funny but also plausible characters and situations, not something you always see in humorous stories. I loved the characters and so wanted the audio version to be as good.
Well..the choice of narrator, Mr Morgan C Jones is inspired. Clearly a man of a thousand voices, he brings each of the characters to life and of course the Irish accents serve to make the whole thing even more enjoyable.
In particular, Bunny is a real tour de force. Its consistently funny. but some scenes are downright hilarious...particularly the scene where the Solicitor gets a visit from a henchman.
Its crying out for Amazon or Netflix to make a TV series...can I suggest Brendan Gleeson for the part of Bunny McGarry.
Dont hesitate , buy this book...and the really good news.....the others books are coming to a set of ears near you soon.

My favourite book of last year
I haven’t yet listened to the audio version of this book but I bought it as soon as I’d heard it was released on Audible because it was my absolute favourite read of last year.
It manages to be a tense thriller and a very funny book. There are so many well observed characters met along the way and, although the book’s heroes have an extraordinary adventure, the way the plot is set up it seems believable.
I loved it and am so looking forward to listening to it now.

I really enjoyed this audio book. The characters were unusual, the plot was good & there was plenty of excitement mixed with humour. I hope there are more books to follow.

Excellent narrator - enjoyed the fact that he was actually Irish, as it's all too common for narrators to put on an accent.

Laughed at this great performance
Morgan C Jones is an actor who has been on screen in TV and films. It is seems to be actors who give the best readings. Salute to Morgan, a great job here of making various Irish accents and voices distinct. Well paced and modulated.
The story is reminiscent of the Dan Starkey stories without a wider cast. That is a good comparison and I hope Caimh McDonnel takes it a such. Because this tale of mistaken identity meets forty year old crime meets long dead criminals, it's a real roarer.
Based on this I am very likely to listen to anothet of his books and if Morgan is reading then it is a cert.

Prepare to laugh out loud!
On a night when I have full control of the TV remote I have happily been listening to the final few chapters of this book instead! I saw this as a suggestion for me, the reviews were good so here we are....several hours later. There are not so many books that have me laughing out loud. Really enjoyable and as it’s a prequel I’m hoping there is more of the same to come.
What makes Irish humour so very good! Perfect narration helps and that was delivered effortlessly by Morgan C. Jones. Can’t wait to start the next book. 👍

Not easily pleased
I could write a thousand words about how great this book is. Let it suffice to say, after reading it, I couldn't wait to slap down whatever it cost to hear this book read to me! I'm old, crotchety, poor, and no longer easily amused, but really wanted this story to last a LOT longer. I enjoyed the company of the characters, the character of the setting, and truly wanted to be a part of the action. But I settled for enjoying the plot vicariously.
You will NOT be wasting your money or time while enjoying the Heck out of this book!!!!
Look for more by Caimh!

Read Angels in the Moonlight First.
I had already read Angels in the Moonlight, A Man With One of Those Faces, and part of The Day That Never Comes (on Kindle) when I discovered Audible was making these available. I was so excited!! I recommend reading Angels in the Moonlight first, which I did, and it turns out to be the prequel, though it is book 3 in the trilogy of 4. Confusing? Yes. As of this writing, Angels is not yet available on Audible so go get it on Kindle. You won't be sorry. It is the one that gives you a much better understanding of the Bunny character and enables you to read the others with more enjoyment. It is also the best one. Mr. McDonnell has a talent for spinning a good tale with great descriptions but also mixes wonderful wit with murder and mayhem. His one-liners will make you wish you could remember them to use yourself. I have mixed feelings about the performance. The reader has an excellent voice and does the characters well, but I was disappointed in Bunny. I wanted him to have a stronger, more growly voice. This is probably because I had already created an image of Bunny when I read the books in print. Overall, I greatly enjoy everything I have read so far from Caimh McDonnell. More, please.

Irish Mayhem
I originally got this as a Kindle First Read or maybe it was on Prime, but at any rate the combination of the title and the low price appealed. I'm not sure whether the adjective gormless is an Irish term - but in any event it applies to the chronically confused and set upon MWOoTF, who only needs the redoubtable Briget to bring focus to his life.
I was so glad to find it on Audible, and now it's sequel, which finds The Man no less confused and the situations just as funny. Yes, funny in a ha ha sense. I don't laugh aloud at books very often, but this one had me from the start, with a very good crime/mystery as well.
