About this listen

Samantha Martin is an imp, enjoying an extended vacation from Hel. All she wants to do is drink beer by the pool, play mischievous pranks on the humans, and get her hot neighbor in the sack. It's a relaxing break from her infernal home as long as she manages to avoid the angels, who won't hesitate to execute her on sight.

But when her naughty hellhound lands her in trouble with the local werewolf pack, Sam is blackmailed into helping track and catch a killer. The steps she must take to appease the werewolves will put her right in the crosshairs of the angels. And with angels, there is no second chance.

What a great character! Our heroine is a smart mouthed imp who has set up a comfortable life, away from the unpleasantness of hell. All she really wants is to remain under the radar, play with her horses who hate her and lust after her neighbour. Unfortunately, fate has other ideas, and an obligation to a werewolf sees her comfortable life shot out from under her.

With her trademark sarcasm and penchant for trouble, she finds herself having to ally with an angel, whose job it is to send her back to the fiery pits, to track down a rogue angel who's gone batty. Another twist of fate ends up linking them, an unpleasant experience for both.

The narrator speaks so slowly that I had to increase the speed t listen to it. Very strange. Once I did this, the narration was bearable and the story was fantastic.

Good start to the series

Firstly to start the story was slow and the narrator annoying but after several attempts at listening I decided to stick with it and it did pick up and I got used to the narrator speaking like an alien! So much so I actually have it 4 stars and will buy the next book Still rubbish narrator! Lol

What did you like best about A Demon Bound? What did you like least?

I really liked the original storyline in particular the main character Sam
I really disliked the performance of the narrator who did her best to ruin the book with the worst narration I have ever heard.

How could the performance have been better?

It couldnt be any worse - - but reading without misplaced pauses, differentiating between different voices and putting some expression into the narration would be a good start

If this book were a film would you go see it?

yes

Any additional comments?

worth sticking with it - its really quite amusing and has a good original storyline and if you can stick it out the second book in the series is even better - even the narration though not great is much better

Decent book dreadful narration

Struggled with the narrator initially as I found her lacking in intonation. So much so that I stopped listening. I finally decided to try again and found myself warming to her more subtle style. Once past this sticky point, I found the book engaging and threaded with humour. So much so that I finished it in super quick time!

Slow burner which picked up pace
