Tricia Gates Brown is an everyday theologian working as a writer and editor in the Willamette Valley of Oregon where she resides on a farm. Her novel Wren won a 2022 Independent Publishers Aware Bronze Medal; and of her writing, the late author Brian Doyle (Mink River) opined, “An honest, piercing, blunt, lyrical, remarkable writer about the endless chambers of joy and pain in the heart.” After completing an MA in theology then a PhD from the University of St. Andrews in 2000, Tricia continued energetically self-educating in theology, spirituality, and the emotional life, as well as honing the craft of writing. Her essays and poems have appeared in numerous venues including Oregon Humanities and Portland Magazine, and she writes a column for Patheos as "a religious doubter on why religion matters." She is an ordained deacon in the Episcopal Diocese of Oregon.
