Rev. Dr. Sheryl White is currently serving as the Pastor of Alva Church of God in Alva, OK and has been there for three years. Six years prior she served as the Development Coordinator creating "Core Out of Poverty" projects and grant writer for Youth Core Ministries (YCM) in South Central Kansas. During this time Sheryl also served YCM as the Community Liaison at the Barron Theater in Pratt, KS. Prior to this position White served as the Director of Lay Ministries at the First United Methodist Church in Pratt, Kansas for nine and a half years.

Sheryl has ministered to children, youth, and adults in a professional ministry position for 22 years, served college students for 11 years, and volunteered with youth and children for many years. Sheryl received her Doctorate of Ministry Degree in 2004 from Houston Graduate School of Theology. Sheryl wrote Underground Angel, a historical fiction work from her Doctor of Ministry project entitled The Haviland Heritage Foundation: Extending the Life of Laura S. Haviland in 21st Century Haviland and Beyond. The Haviland Heritage Foundation is a non-profit organization she created as a part of this project. Underground Angel is the true-life story of Laura Haviland framed in historical fiction and published in November 2013.


Sheryl currently lives in Alva, OK, but continues to serve the communities she serves through a non-profit organization, Bridge2Hope. Underground Angel named for Mrs. Haviland tells her true life story as historical fiction. Sheryl has served as an instructor at Barclay College and Minister of Education at the Haviland Friends Church for 15 years. She is also a graduate from Anderson University School of Theology, Anderson, Indiana earning two degrees, a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Theology and Ethics. Sheryl earned a bachelor’s degree from Mid-America Christian University in music with an emphasis in piano performance. Her passion for the poor led her to serve the Agape Clinic for the uninsured and the Hope Center as a founding board member in Pratt, KS. 

Dr. White adheres to Laura Haviland's theme Scripture: "I was hungry and you fed me. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was homeless and you gave me a room. I was shivering and you gave me clothes. I was sick and you stopped to visit. I was in prison and you came to me" Matthew 25:35-36 (NIV). Haviland's signature phrase: "Thine for the oppressed!"
