Maryanne L. Fisher, PhD, is a Full Professor in the Department of Psychology at Saint Mary’s University, and an Affiliate Faculty member at The Kinsey Institute in Bloomington, Indiana. She is an award-winning teacher and researcher. Her main area of research interest is women’s intrasexual competition from an evolutionary perspective, and she has examined women’s interpersonal relationships more broadly, including variation in women’s sexuality in relation to friendships. To date, she has co-edited two books with Oxford University Press (Evolution’s Empress: Darwinian Perspectives on the Nature of Women (2013) and The Oxford Handbook of Women and Competition (2017)), and authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications. Her research is regularly discussed in media outlets including the BBC, CNN, CBC, and Discovery.
