I’m an accountant, entrepreneur, and systems specialist who helps small business owners and landlords build calmer, more reliable financial systems. For over 20 years, I’ve run and advised small businesses. I’m the Finance Director of a letting agency, I own a small property portfolio, and I co-founded an accountancy practice with my wife in 2012. My day job is helping business owners get control of their numbers, their systems, and their decision-making, not just their tax returns. Alongside this, I’ve taught entrepreneurship, innovation, and digital business at Northumbria University as an Associate Lecturer, including work on the government-backed Help to Grow programme. I’ve also guest lectured on executive MBA programmes and mentored founders at different stages of growth. I write books for people who run real businesses, not for people who enjoy theory. My first book, The Science of Business, explores how simple scientific thinking can improve business decisions. 10 Ideas to Save 10% in 10 Minutes is a practical guide to cutting costs without cutting quality. My latest book, Making Tax Digital Without the Panic, helps sole traders and landlords set up calm, simple systems for quarterly reporting under Making Tax Digital, without fear, jargon, or last-minute stress. Outside of work, I’m a keen triathlete and spend as much time as I can travelling the UK in a campervan with my wife and two boys, racing, exploring, and trying not to take life too seriously.
