I came up with the idea for Moonglow Avenue on a foggy, winter night in Scotland: I was out walking my dog, Lucy, and was kinda wrapped up with whatever was in my head at the time and not paying attention to where I was going. I looked up at one point and found myself in a street that I didn't recognise. I knew I was close to home because I hadn't been out all that long, but the snow and fog had changed the look of the place and it took me a few minutes to work out where I was. I started imagining that the street, like the fabled Brigadoon, existed outside of the normal world, what if this was where the creatures of folk lore lived; vampires and witches and ghosts? Then I thought, as writers often do, what would happen if...? Having grown up with books like the Famous Five and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe my first instinct was, what would happen if a group of kids wandered in to this street that existed on the magical borders of our own world? And Moonglow Avenue was born. I hope everybody enjoys this book and would like to thank everybody who has contacted me to tell me how much they love the story and the characters.
