Darius Pietrocola is the Owner/Chief Technical Officer of Solid Rock, Incorporated. Founded in 1998, Solid Rock is a premiere, comprehensive adaptive aid integration and training company, offering evaluations, equipment, service trainings, and support to help empower the disabled community. Darius received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science from the City University of New York (CUNY), College of Staten Island in 1986. Since that time, Pietrocola has been fortunate enough to train blind/visually impaired, traumatic brain-injured (TBI) and orthopedic-challenged individuals to utilize adaptive technology, enabling them to become active participants in the work force. He has built his company and his career on the mantra, “obstacles should inspire innovation.” Through his knowledge of the adaptive aids, Pietrocola has been involved in job placement activities with many federal, state and local agencies, providing his technical expertise to help integrate persons with disabilities into their work or school environments. Darius’ experience includes extensive work with the Veterans Administration (VA) prosthetic department since 2002, issuing training and equipment recommendations for veterans living with a myriad of disabilities acquired through active service, trauma, and/or age. Specifically, he has worked closely with the VA to deliver on-site setup and or repair, computer/adaptive aid training and other supportive services. Since 2009 Pietrocola has been providing contracted training services to the Department of Homeland Security / FEMA for their visually impaired / blind employees. Darius’ work has been so integral to these federal institutions; he has advanced from working only with their external affairs department to consulting for the agency’s Region 2 Disability Integration Specialist. Pietrocola continues to grow Solid Rock Incorporated with the fundamental premise that adaptations for people with disabilities should be made through competent, respectful, and patient training; allowing the individual a chance to thrive within their learning experience, while utilizing the most widely accepted, cost-effective products.
