I am a writer, editor, educator (at New York University) and entrepreneur. I write for a business and public affairs audience. I try to go under the surface of complex issues in an accessible way: to be solid and authentic while telling stories and explaining some mysterious aspects of everyday life. My books all have very positive reviews. They have covered responsible AI, the neuroscience of leadership, the history of management, strategic coherence, and the hidden nature of organizations. I'm also the editorial director of the best-selling Fifth Discipline Fieldbook series, with Peter Senge et all; these books have helped hundreds of thousands of people become skilled at the tools and practices of organizational learning. Beside writing books, I was a long-time editor of the management magazine Strategy+Business, and before that, an editor at the Whole Earth Catalog.
