The sexual heat and chemistry in this book is almost explosive from the start. Initially I thought that was it, the whole story would progress like this and I wasn't quite sure what to make of it.

Yes, the chemistry is strong but there are also elements of sweet romance, action and suspense. While Phoenix comes off as extremely alpha, he shows considerable vulnerability and sensitivity as the story progresses. Wren may start as a damsel in distress but her complex issues and strength of character also make considerable contributions to the plot. The story is energetic and fast-paced but a lot of fun to listen to. This is the first book in the seried and I definitely want to hear the rest. In fact, I think that there are characters included in thiz story who are featured in other series and I may just go read/listen to those now too!

A reckless man and the independent girl who tamed him. Or is it the other way around? Phoenix is the perfect rough guy, who has the heart of gold but only for the right one. I loved the story, in his privileged life, he was a rebel, a danger seeker. There’s romance with a little spanking, danger, mystery, a lovely and special son plus a rugged handsome cowboy 🤠

Loved the narration of Skyler Morgan. He can bring out the heat, suspense and action. Perfect narration to listen to.

Phoenix is a smokejumper, an ex marine . Due to a horrible accident, he vowed to never get into a relationship. Wren is on her way to her family for her sister's wedding when she gets caught up in a snowstorm and crashes. She is found by Phoenix on his way back from a fire. The sparks and chemistry between them is off the charts. Wren asks him to be her date at the dinner for the wedding. They both have a past that they need to deal with but with someone deliberately setting fires. Full of steamy scenes, suspense, chemistry and secrets.
