The First Great Game

Mason the survivalist was always preparing for the end of the world. He just didn’t expect a god-like AI to transform it into a damn video game. Now he has to pick a ‘class’, survive a ‘tutorial’ (filled with monstrous creatures trying to murder him), and somehow find his brother Blake before the idiot gets himself killed. OK. Blake’s no idiot. He’s a charming, incredibly lucky, ambitious world-beater. But he was destined for corporate boardrooms, not monster filled forests, and Mason knows he needs to reach him before it’s too late.

Brothers Blake and Mason have survived the 'system's' post-apocalyptic tutorial. They killed and cajoled their way into 'patronage' of a forest settlement, made useful (and beautiful) new allies, and for the moment things look good. A little too good. But for how long? The synthetic overlord who re-made the world has a plan. There's orcs and gnolls and all kinds of monstrous creatures looking for human blood. And whatever the system wants, whatever it's after, Mason knows there's only one way out: survival.

While trying to protect and recruit more players and civilians from another settlement, Mason has fallen into a mortal dungeon—The Great Devourer's Lair. It wasn't meant to be found so soon. It was designed for a later stage in the game when players would have more power. But what secrets might the dungeon hold? If Mason and his new player friend Carl can survive it, just how powerful could it make them? There's only one way to find out....

Mason survived the Devourer's lair, got a prestige class, then he and the other players fought off a murderous wave of orc raiders. But now his brother Blake is trapped in a deadly game in the orc's fortress, and for the first time in his life, Mason can't save him. Instead, the reluctant survivalist is left to manage Nassau, a growing group of civilians and players, and the increasing threats of "phase 2".

Mason and his brother Blake have so far survived the Great Game, and even thrived. But for how much longer? Blake defeated the orc tyrant made just to kill him, and now settles into the 'White Tower' with the beautiful orc ruler he installed. With charm, and an army of constructs, he intends to make the once-enemies into allies. And that's just the start of his ambitions...
