Bound to the Wings of a Butterfly is a collection of poetry, written as an act of writing therapy. It is about healing, recovery, and self-acceptance. About the journey of discovery that comes with true internal healing, and about transforming our lives, towards positivity, beauty, and love. It introduces the process of writing poetry to heal. Breaking down the barriers to artistic expression, empowering the listener to pick up a pen, look inside, and let the words flow. Encouraging them to brave the darkness and to discover the light.

Be present, for now is all that exists. Grow, enjoy, and act morally. Drop your ego, listen, empathise and forgive. Trust your intuition and be compassionate. Nothing more is within your control. Let it go and just feel. Accept yourself.

This is the story of a dark night of the soul, of traversing the depths of despair, and of rebirth. It shows the reality of hitting rock bottom. Not by a self-reported narrative written after the fact, but through unfiltered poetic expression written in real time during breakdown and recovery. The poems within this collection were written over a 24-month period and are presented in chronological order. They show the inner tumult and turmoil of a man desperately trying, and failing, to hold together the crumbling status quo of his prior existence.

This book celebrates a dark night of the soul. Shines light into the shadow. Offers hope. Augmented Realities takes listeners on a journey of triumph over adversity through radical self-acceptance and the embracing of silence and stillness in an increasingly fast paced world.

I wrote these poems incrementally, but collated, edited, and recorded them collectively. A process that was at first therapeutic and then brutally revealing. A lot of the pieces touch upon regret, lost possibilities, and missed opportunities born of trauma, neglect, mental illness, and fear, as...

Part expression, part confession, part question, it is an intimate look at the impact of mental illness, trauma, and neglect. A critical dissection of the interconnected roles that family, religion, society, education, and government play, as well as their impacts upon an individual. A commentary on current affairs, historical trends, and the bleak potential of our collective future, Can’t Quite Express is also both an example of, and an encouragement for, writing therapy.

Poetry kills inner demons. It takes away their power. Removes their teeth. Loosens their grip. It turns them into mere words in a narration. Something to be heard and remembered, but no longer feared. What follows is an act of therapy. In moments of inner crisis, I put pencil to paper and let the words come. This process is not pleasant, but it is cathartic. I share this with you in the hopes that we can both feel less alone in our suffering and to show you that when you look at your demons, they lose all their power.

As children we can’t help but dream of all of the amazing things that we will accomplish. Then life happens. We get a job, we get a house, and we get into debt. We settle. We trade away our youth for security in old age. We spend countless hours performing mundane tasks that leave us depleted and empty. Our souls crave meaning, but we are too afraid to make any change.

Enter a dystopian future where integration with technology may cost us our humanity. A bleak prediction of a world where consumerism and technological advancement has been taken to the extreme. In an anthology of short stories, Upgrade attempts to answer the fundamental question: What does it mean to be human?

A personal and brutally honest account of the destructive dynamic that a drug-affected and mentally ill father can have on his child. Through Under the Influence, Zachary gives us a sacred peek into his once shattered mind, teaching us that, even against all the odds, a broken mind can not only be healed, but can go on to flourish, inspiring others along the way. From the author: " Under the Influence is the story of my childhood. It provides an insight in to the reality of being the son of an addict, paranoid schizophrenic, chronic hoarder and drug dealer."

In his personal, realistic, and down-to-earth style, Zachary Phillips shares what it takes to survive the impact of mental illness and childhood trauma. To go from a place of barely surviving to passionately thriving.
