She married Joseph Rowlandson, the pastor of Lancaster, in the 1650s.

It was then that he began to support himself by writing. He wrote letters, essays and short fiction.

The passion of the patriot Thomas Paine comes straight on and one can better understand the forces that shaped this country. Thomas Paine was born in Thetford, England, in 1737. Thomas worked as a tax collector and was let go for petitioning for higher pay. Benjamin Franklin encouraged him to emigrate to the United States in 1774, where he published a series of pamphlets called The American Crisis.

Joseph Rudyard Kipling was born December 30, 1865 in Bombay, India. The name Rudyard was taken from a lake in Staffordshire, England. At the age of 6, he and his younger sister were sent back to England where they lived with separate families that took in children for hire. He returned to India at age 16. Rudyard knew literary success at a young age and was able to travel. He married Carrie Balestier, an American, and moved to the United States. The Jungle Books were written in Vermont. He died January 18, 1936 in Middlesex, England during an operation.

Robinson Crusoe flees Britain on a ship after killing his friend over the love of Mary. A fierce ocean storm wrecks his ship and leaves him stranded by himself on an uncharted island. Left to fend for himself, Crusoe seeks out a tentative survival on the island, until he meets Friday, a tribesman whom he saves from being sacrificed. Initially, Crusoe is thrilled to finally have a friend, but he has to defend himself against the tribe who uses the island to sacrifice tribesman to their gods.
